The Powers That Be.

Who or what these powers that be are entirely dependent on the individual who says it.

Often used in poorly thought out conspiracy theories.

The TPTB is the "The Man" The guys that trys dictate your every move and there's not alot you can do about it, IMO
From your manager calling you up for a "chat" to your MP saying there will be no tax rises, Its all about dominance to make you feel you are not in control and you just have roll along (against your better judgment) and play the game or else, They Know you will not call their bluff because You have a mortgage and a family to worry about,

Yeah, but who are TPTB ?????

And 'be' what? In most cases they seem to be total planks. A bunch of wallies who couldn't pour custard into a bowl without setting fire to the sofa ....

Mind, they're not as inept as the NWO or the Illuminati. Who'd need a 6 volume instruction manual just to organise a p*ssing contest. And still not know what to do with the giraffe .....

TPTB - The powers that be.

They are the unseen entity that indirectly influence the directions and sway the outcomes of events. They are the puppetmasters. They "control the horizontal and the vertical", if you will.

The scope of who "they" are depends on the situation they are being applied to in any given conversation or event.

If something happens and seems to have an odd reason for being, that would probably be attributed to TPTB as a force of influence to sway the outcome to "their agenda".

So, basically, when you cant find a culprit to directly pin the blame on, pull out the TPTB card and slap it down with "authori-tie".

Here is a rather comprehensive list of members of TPTB. Bare in mind however it is a short list.
Also bare in mind that only a few members of this list actually constitute what could be the absolute elite, which by the way make up the true bulk of the power elite circle.
