Ok well this I found interesting.But will this change anything?.

As of June 18, 2010 seventeen members of the European Union Parliament, led by Italian EU MP Mario Borghezi, have reportedly signed and tabled a “Written declaration on the declassification of documentation on UFOs” calling on member states to disclose documents relating to UFOs, and end UFO secrecy.

The full official text of the declaration on declassification of documentation on UFOs is as follows: 0057/2010 Written declaration on the declassification of documentation on UFOs The European Parliament, – having regard to Articles 4, 179, 180 and 189 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, having regard to Rule 123 of its Rules of Procedure, A. whereas in 1978 the 33rd General Assembly of the United Nations formally recognised UFOs as a valid issue, B. whereas in 1993 a resolution drafted by the Italian physicist Tullio Regge and seeking to extend to European level the investigative remit of what was then the only government body looking into UFOs (the SEPRA, which has now become the GEIPAN) was tabled in Parliament, C. whereas many members of the scientific community have been looking into the issue of UFOs and have denounced the systematic covering-up of information on the subject, D. whereas a study of the material collected by the governments of all the Member States would have major scientific and technological spinoffs, 1. Considers it essential to set up a scientific centre for the analysis and dissemination of the scientific data gathered to date by various European bodies and governments; 2. Calls for public archives on UFOs to be opened up and for records to be declassified by the Member States, thus providing the public and the mass media with access to the full range of documentation on the subject 3. Instructs its President to forward this declaration, together with the names of the signatories, to the Council, the Commission and the governments of the Member States.

Will this make a difference or just be swept under the carpet and forgot about for another 30+years?.

Would be nice to get full disclosure.
But wouldn't it also be nice to win a trillion dollars and get 300 adult models all at the same time? Sure, but it is not likely to happen

I think the U.S will be involved in this and will likely silence the governments of Europe.

The U.S government is powerfull and if they want to keep something secret, then they should be able to find some way to do so. If it is in fact true what everybody says about the U.S back-engineering alien technology and hiding alien encounters to the public then why would they allow the people of another continent to get their hands on UFO documents from Europe? If we were allowed to do so, then I could imagine that UFO fanatics/researchers in the U.S would like to do so too and might start demanding that by the government.

I think this is just to make themselves known and to get some friends in the UFO circles, what they ask for is nothing special.

And what happens if there isn't any scientific data (or if they say that there isn't any)? No scientific data, no scientific centre.

Calls for public archives on UFOs to be opened up and for records to be declassified by the Member States, thus providing the public and the mass media with access to the full range of documentation on the subject

Open up public archives? Aren't those already public? And they do not specify what records should be declassified, there's a difference between "for records to be declassified" and "all records to be declassified".

I think it's just a political move.

Though it is good to know, that there are politicians in our european parliament who handle the UFO-topic seriously and not just with ridicule, I highly doubt that it will change the current situation significantly.

We must not forget: If the UFO-mystery indeed has a true core, if the Roswell-story is true, that the US recovered alien tech and alien bodies from a downed extraterrestrial craft, then there aren't not just philosophical questions that do come up with this.

If the Roswell-story is true, then the US gathered a (military, informative) strategic advantage, that they won't give out of their hands easily.

Some say, the US goverment handled (and - if all the claims are true - still does handle) the UFO-topic with an even higher secrecy than the Manhattan-project (that led to the development of nuclear weapons). And maybe this for more reasons than just for strategic ones:

Many people here on ATS would like to see full disclosure.

But... what if, if we couldn't really handle the truth?

What if, if the truth were of a kind, that would make us go crazy like the people who listened to Orson Welles radio play of H. G. Wells' "War Of The Worlds" in 1938 and thought to listen to real news?

What if, if we got more disclosure than we really could handle?

Sometimes I think, maybe we're too naive to ask for disclosure and not to think about what the consequences would be like.

To understand what I mean, think about the reasons why people got burned for declaring earth isn't flat, but round, and earth wasn't revolved by the sun and the center of the universe, but that the earth was revolving the sun and far from beeing the center of the universe.

At first you may think: "How stupid to burn people just because they claimed such a thing - as if this made a real difference. Apparent, no one fall into the sky since then, for us it doesn't matter, if earth is round or not."

In fact, in those days (and of course still today) it made a difference if earth was flat or not or the center of the universe.

It wasn't just a scientific question. It was also a "strategic" question.

Because if someone could proof that the church (who - in those days - was much mightier than today) was wrong in claiming that earth was flat and the center of the universe, the church maybe also was wrong in other things. For example in claiming to be the legitimate agent of god.

The church in those days was in great danger to lose it's power in follow of the discoveries of astronomers like Giordano Bruno or Gallileo Gallilei.

Those discoveries undermined the reliability of the church, and so the church had a great interest in surpressing those discoveries. Finally, I assume, the leaders of the church feared, that those discoveries wouldn't just lead to the distruction of church, but to the distruction of the whole world.

First, church would fall, then the secular powers would fall, and finally everything would go down in the flames of doubt and madness.

Because if the church was wrong on claiming that the earth was the center of the universe, they maybe finally the church was also wrong that there was a good father up in heaven and a sense in this world.

You might laugh now. Why bother, when the church goes down in flames?

I tell you this: The times haven't really changed. And still today there are people who'd prefer, that the world was flat and the center of the universe.

Because it makes life much easier.

People don't really like a change.

They may like to watch aliens on their TV, but the thought that they really could be here is rather uncomfortable.

Of course we have a right to know the truth!

But we should prepare ourselves, that maybe the truth could be hard to swallow.

And that the consequences could be expansive and lead to dramatic changes in every single man's life.

Finally, the truth behind the UFO-enigma will be of nearly the same quality (and dimension) as the truth behind the question if there's a life after death.

It'll be mindblowing, to say the least.

Are you sure you can handle the truth? Many claimed so, but in the end, they went mad with information that literally blew their rose colored tinted minds. Reality seldom comes with happy endings...Do reconsider.

the question is what is the most important to face the truth with the dramatic changes or to stay happy in a dramatic lies, because personly i wanna know, a scary truth is better then a confortable lies, because when you open your eyes it's gone !!! thruth hurt but it is also libarator...
