It struck me just now, instead of NASA and the government trying to search for life that is compatible for human life, why can't we improve our own living conditions by cutting down our use and dependency of oil, and stopping the cutting of rainforests. Is it really that hard to understand, that by cutting back these actions, we would not be needing spend all this money on some robot that might or might not find a fossil/living organism. Unless I'm missing some facts, I feel like our government, rushes their ideas to early and just takes everything one step to early.

Why not, instead of making fun of the 'tree huggers' maybe we can learn a little something from them.

It's not as simple as all of that... These things take time... Not because of technology, but because of economy.

Lets say we start using all electric cars tomorrow. What about the guys who work at the oil refineries, and their families? What about the gas station owners? And the numerous other industries supported? What do you do when they are all unemployed and looking for work? There are MANY implications here, and a simple answer won't do...sadly.

NASA's budget is like 1 or 2 percent of the total budget (someone correct me if I'm inaccurate)..

But, I'm of the opinion that "spinoffs" and super high technology developed BY
the NASA program, created by these engineers that care about science more than money, may assist us in doing exactly what you wish!

I think Nasa is a bargain..

That's a good idea.
Why do you want someone else to do your work. Wait I have it now....You probably have a hectic work schedule...Makes you think that, that is the same response someone in the field will give you..

These simple ideas don't necessarily register within the minds of scientists.
If you can imagine it, tell people, and it will come true. There are solutions out there, the problem is the person that came up with them, thinks nothing of them. See "A Beautiful Mind " starring Russel Crowe.

Yeah, the simple thing would be to do things that save the environment, and make transport and energy cheaper for everybody. The problem is, your not thinking about people that need a new Mercedes every six months, or those that need more en suite bathrooms than their minions.

You see, we all embraced capitalism. That meant we could destroy 1000's of jobs of the working class without reprieve, but they're the working class so it doesn't really count.

You obviously don't understand the economy or the environment.

You see, we can't protect the environment because it would destroy our over inflated profit margins. Never mind that eventually there will be no environment for us to exploit, by that time boy, I'll be dead and I'll of long since had my fun! So what the hell do I care?

We can only hope then, the people affected with this idea will realize the importance of it and forgive....hopefully.
