I agree, China is a big threat to us. They buy our bank notes, they manufacture our goods, they could easily sever those ties with us and the USA would be crippled. We need to start relying on ourselves now, China is not a country to mess with anymore. I believe there days of peace and neutrality is long gone now. If China ever invaded, I doubt it would be successful, because they do not have the craft to bring over there entire army. They could attack but not keep the land. If that happens, the USA would start a draft and the Chinese could watch the US's military might rise higher than they would have ever expected. If the USA were invaded, I am sure the citizens of our nation would be all for wiping them off of the Earth. If the Chinese successfully held our land and took over, there would be too many militias who are highly trained and know the land. It would be like Iraq and America, the big country with the guns goes in, but the smaller guerilla fighters have the home advantage. Let's hope this never happens.

It is not that simple, you can't just stop all trade and pick up making jobs at home. China basically controls our economy by buying our stocks and bank notes, if they were to stop, the USA would be crippled.

A escalation from a all out war to a nuclear war. Depends on war strategy protocol.

As we already know, The US can't send its whole fleet of ships, air crafts, and other military assets to fight China all at once. Unless other NATO forces releases US assets stationed around the globe. The US needs the capability to protect its borders from attacks from other nations who might see a opportunity, Like Russia.

But this again depends on how the mobilisation scenario of forces are played out before the war actually breaks out. Because its the mobilisation scenario that probably will start the war. And its the mobilisation process that will determine what type of weapons that will be used and who will be involved in the initial fight.

My guess is. This war will be fought with conventional weapons and tactical nukes right of the BAT. This war will go ballistic right away.

Another thing to keep in mind. The majority of the American soldiers are afraid of dying. The majority of Chinese soldiers see death as an honor. Because they are groomed different mentally than we are. This will also determine how this war will be fought. It will be damn brutal.

If our government doesn't give a crap about this big National Security issue is because it sees China as a good investment nation to buy our debt.

For the second consecutive month China increased its U.S. debt holdings, raising the amount to $900.2 billion, the highest level since November 2009, according to the Treasury Department.

China’s holdings of U.S. debt increased $5 billion over the month of March, which was preceded by six consecutive months of Beijing’s debt holdings either falling or staying at the same level.

Japan remained the second largest holder of U.S. debt at $795.5 billion, followed by the United Kingdom $321.2 billion and the oil exporting nations at $239.3 billion.
Overall, foreign holdings of U.S. debt increased to $3.96 trillion.

They also have a nuclear option that they have used in the pass and that is to stop buying our debt to get US to do what they want.

You fight your ebemy on every level...militarilly, economically, psychologically, culturally...and you use time. You win the battle by not having to even fight the battle... for if your efforts result in combat, you have failed.

The Chinese and their doctrines are based on years.. not days/ weeks/ months...like the West. The war in Viet Nam is a good example. Further, if they want to move 10,000 rocks to make a road...they don't build some engineering marvel like the West....they get 10,000 people to move one rock.

I do not believe that China is yet ready for confrontation...but the fact that they are getting "ballsy" is telling. They do not have to project power to the continnental US, either.

Limited gaines, over the course of time, with success...will win the long term conflict.

TAIWAN... domination of the South China Sea and Sea of Japan and the PHILLIPINES. That is the agenda. China is building up it's naval forces at an unprecedented rate with an emphasis on CARRIERS, MISSLE FRIGATES, and AMPHIBIOUS CRAFT.

I believe that in long term planning... the US Military sees this and has taken steps over the last decade to "head off China at the pass" so to speak. Turn a world map upside down and look at China...then look at the nations around China. The US is in Afghanistan...next to China...has troops in S.Korea... troops in Japan... troops in the S.Pacific Basin and Phillipines... has bases in Indian Ocean for forward deployment...troops in Iraq and S.W. Asia. China is basically surrounded by the US. We even have a NATO corridor now open across Russia..a dn close ties with air bases in the little -akistan countries along Russia's southern border.

The US needs to step up it's game and really put some meat in its military might.

We have the technology, China has the numbers. Look at WWII and the war in Russia to see how that played out between the Germans and Russians. A fast, hurried conflict of weeks and the US would win.... a drawn out conflict of say 6months to a year and China would win. A conflict beyond a year and it is anybody's guess.

The Chinese aren't as primitive now as they were in Korea and they gave us a bloody nose in 1951-52... they almost won. Plus, we don't produce what we used to here either. That entire infrastructure would have to be rebuilt...quickly. You can't turn car factories over to tank production and refridgerator plants into jet production...we just don't have the capacity we once did. That will take time....

Therefore, I see some crisis develope, maybe an economic strike against the USA, and then out of the blue...Chinese occupation of Taiwan with a massive naval blockade/gauntlet to keep out the counter strikes... and maybe an on land invasion to use as a bargaining chip to keep Taiwan in the followup truce negotiations.

I agree with this. Especially dealing with markets, it would be unfavorable for China to threaten the U.S., but for both sides I can imagine.

Also, I remember reading somewhere that China is spending way too much to sustain itself for too much longer(as they spend far above their income), does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Personally some of the Chinese seem a tad bit crazy and extreme. As far as countries willing to fight a major war, I think China nears the top of the list. I think national pride is extremely high and that can be a dangerous thing.

I believe I understand what your saying. Since the world economic downturn, China's export customers have declined in purchases/imports from China. But to artificially maintain their economy and keep people working, the chinese govt is still pushing manufacturing. The goods are backing up...literally on the dock.

At some point, things have got to give.... there in lies the economic crisis for china.

To maintain/increase exports...China has to sell at cost or at a loss. You can't do that for very long. And with thousands...millions of new middle class workers tasting the good life and wanting more....you have to keep them happy...or distracted...aka N Korea.

Thats not good for anybody.

A declared war with China will cancel any US debt to that country and any of China's holdings in the US will revert to either the original US owners or to the US governemt. That accounts for how many billions, I dont think there will be war anytime soon with China..we have all to gain..how are they going to attack through Alasaka..well that will take a year alone..West coast..hehe Cant think of a better front guard than the San Francisans...East Coast big mistake ..all the original 13 colonies that believe freedom is worth dying for...oh yeah There's the deployable nuc's that will desimate 1/3 their force in one setting..

There is a Chineese man who rides a bike and collects bottles for the refund money ,he has been scavenging in my neighborhood for several years,I am self-teaching Mandarin so I sometime say hi to a young canadian student who has Chineese heritage,I have learned the mans story,he collects fifty dollars a day worth of bottles,he lives on the street,he invests the fifty dollars every single day and he lives on what he collects OVER THE FIFTY EACH DAY.He uses the money to support his family in China,so the kid says.

No overhead,no rent ,no spending money,no contribution back to our community other than picking through the garbage cans,this guy thinks he is smart.He isnt.

He knows how to use money and the system but he isnt smart.


He thinks he has found a way to take out more than he puts in,it just doesnt work that way.

He doesnt WANT to be part of Canada,he wants money to send home,period.

The world is full of Chineese people who think like he does.

Not having to rollover the debt from the treasury bonds they have wouldn't put a dent in the amount of debt the USA has, or the crippling effect of the end of global free trade.

God americans are such idiots, China is the real power and Washington knows it, it has American by the balls economically, and if you think they cant survive without the US market then you are even more stupid than the rest of the world thinks. China sells good to everyone, loosing the US would be a small drop in a huge ocean.

The Chinese and the American economies are too integrated with each other at the present moment for a conflict to flare up. America provides the biggest market for low cost Chinese goods and this bilateral trade is benefiting the Chinese a lot.

At present, America's naval superiority is unquestioned. Any enemy would need to cross the oceans to mount an attack. However, even the planners in Beijing know about this obstacle and they must be working to solve this. It is said that the Chinese military draws its inspirations from Sun Tzu and there is one quote that I remember : "Know yourself and your enemy well and you need not fear the results of even a hundred battles".
