The Moon orbits the Earth once every 29 1/2 days (Lunar Month) in a counter-clockwise motion. This is the same direction that the Earth rotates on its axis and the same direction the Earth orbits the Sun. Every day the Moon rises later because it is slowly orbiting the Earth yet the same side always faces us (i.e. tidal lock).

If you divide the area of a circle by a Lunar month you get an apparent Lunar motion of just over 12° per day (360°/29.53059=12.19074°). So therefore the Moon will rise @ 12° later on the horizon every night. Full Moons are at midnight and new Moons are at high noon (midday).

Here is a series of lunar images throughout its cycle that shows a wobbling motions called Lunar Librations. Notice how it wobbles as well as gets closer and further away.

thanks the flare images from link looks kinda like shooting stars- the naked eye rayburst was stationary and acted or appeared just like grb080319 Hubble or Pi Sky video and the twice brightening moving star had no tail or streak either at anytime just like a star moving but got brighter twice and then faded -so whatcha think?

the moon is an extraterrestrial base.... as some would theorize. Even the first astronauts that landed at the moon said they herd a pang when they landed. they even saw huge towers.

The photo in the wiki article is a time exposure several seconds long, so the satellite shows as a streak. When you look at Iridium flares with your naked eye, the motion can be slow enough to be unnoticable. Thus, when viewed "live", they don't look like "shooting stars" at all. They look like a star-like object that brightens out of nowhere, then after several seconds fades away to nothing.

Don't take my word for it - Use Heavens-Above to hunt these things down and see for yourself. It's even more fun when you watch them with a group of friends or family. A true wonder of the Space Age - Enjoy!

Last 2 Night ago, The moon in our area usually would and should have shown up and come up around 9PM and 11PM but for some strange it didn't but.

The moon however did come up around 3:30AM Eastern Time, till morning 6AM, this has not happen before, usually the moon always raises above the buildings in our area around 9 pm or 10 pm, but the other evening we had no moon till morning.

Does anyone here also experience the same strange occurrences?
and i have i noticed the moon shape is a bit stranger, i will take some pictures tonight of the moon if i could.

Ever get that feeling 2 night ago the ATS go down hill some at all?

"Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing." Isaiah 40:26

Have a look at this link and wait for the jave applet window to open. There is so much stuff in Earth orbit that I would be surprised if a tumbling piece of something didn't occasionally catch a glint of sunlight and send it our way. You were both observant and fortunate!
