I remember as a kid watching Waterworld and remembering what they had taught me at school about how in earths remote past there was just this one big supercontinent in a big ocean and thinking to my self what a wierd world that must have been had there been humans at the time. I didn't quite buy into it for some reason and i didn't know why, i think that's the case with most kids when they learn about the Pangea superontinent, to me it just seemed so unlikely or made up, almost something good for a Sci-Fii flick, idont know... BUT, it Turns Out it really was science fiction and im so glad i found out.
Heres the second and more likely theory on how earth came to be:

how can the earth be expanding if matter cannot be created from nothing? if theres a finite number of particles that constitute the mass of teh earth on an atomic level, how is it possible that over the course of 5 billion years its grown so much that oceans have formed? only way woudl be if its its expanding form teh inside out and forming a hollow bubble in the middle. which last itme i checked, its not.
nice try, but more liekly than not the tectonic plates slide around on teh surface , not the other way around.

Yes I suspect the earth has expanded, its just so obvious. But that brings up a little problem.

Expanding means to get bigger, or stretch. That would be impossible in a solid earth scenario because that would create a vacuum within the earth, which in turn would not allow the expansion.

Some thing must fill the interior of the earth to allow the expansion. Water, molten rock, air, but something must be drawn in to counter any vacuum that would build.

Am I incorrect?

Heat causes expansion.

Ever heated a balloon? Last time i checked, no matter was getting into the balloon, yet it will expand until it pops!

the material at the center of the earth is under a huge amount of pressure and is "artificially" kept small in volume.

As that matter gets up closer to the top, it can expand.

there IS a difference between the amount of matter in an object and its volume.

Also, the earth gains about 50 tons of matter a day from interstellar debris.

And one could safely assume that in this number is always getting smaller.

So where does all the water come from?
I mean, when it comes to a small earth,
shouldn't it be a water world? Globe covered in water?
Since they show the small earth as a rock covered surface,
I have to ask, where did all the H2O come from to form our
current oceans? Paradox much? Must've been those pesky aliens...

Lots of possibilities:

1) Earth's gravity is collecting interplanetary dust

2) Earth's density is decreasing. There's the same amount of mass, but it is redistributing itself

3) Subterranean gas pockets are forming. Just like how bread expands. Of course, this is essentially the same as #2.

4) Solar radiations are being collected and converted to matter. Millions of years of plants performing photosynthesis add up.

And none of these require any "fantastic" explanations. Really, given #1 and #4, it should come as no surprise that earth would be expanding.

Your problem of vaccum is easily resolved if you take into account that the pole are open holes. No rotating system is closed, in nature. Why would planets be? ( Tornadoes, hurricanes, whirlpool, etc. )

I'm just curious, when was the last time you checked and what instruments did you use ? Gasses can take up the space and it seems quite reasonable to me that as molten matter oozes out and cools the inner core of molten matter will be less dense and continually move more to a gaseous state. Gasses come out of volcanoes all the time. Where did the gasses come from? Furthermore the expelled gas probably is what formed our atmosphere.

#1 50 tonnes a day for 4.54 billion years gives about 82 855 000 000 000 tonnes, and the total weight of the earth is roughly 60 000 000 000 000 000 000 00 tonnes which means that space dust collection since the earth was formed is about 0,000000014% of the total weight.

#4 Were on earth have you gotten that bizarre idea of how photosynthesis works?

And I said, that is the CURRENT amount of matter hitting the earth each day.

One would assume that this number has been DECREASING over time.

where do you think all of the matter on earth came from? its ALL from space.

However the rate at which we gain matter will lower over time as a lot of the matter has been collected already,

That is true, however even if we increase the number by a factor of a million it is still totally irrelevant. Growing earth supporters thinks that the earth has grown quite a lot (doubled its size or something like that) correct?

idea of how photosynthesis works?

From a little thing called physics.

An increase in the amount of energy in the system "earth" necessarily implies an increase in the amount of mass. It is not necessary that an increase in the amount of mass should also result in an increase of volume, but under the circumstances, it is not a result that I would find surprising.

50 tonnes a day for 4.54 billion years
about 0,000000014% of the total weight.

If you wish to suggest that the processes I'm describing are insufficient to account for the theorized amount of increase, that may be true. But the question that I answered was how could the earth expand without violating conservation of mass. I gave four possible explanataions. There may be others.

Yeah, the Hollow Earth Theory seems more and more likely... the earth rotates so fast it would push matter outward... there is plenty of gas coming out from somewhere. There could be things that breath this gas instead of oxygen. Remember the flatwoods monster that sprayed gas? maybe the gas lets it breath on the surface? But it made humans sick so it was assumed to be a sort of weapon or deterent to keep people away. I think most ufos are top secret government projects and from things that live under the ground and seas. But im sure there`s visitors too, and immigrants and explorers, maybe even refugees or fugitives. There are openings all over the planet. especially at the poles, and they arent big enough to really show up too well on google earth (which may be tampered with anyway). The oceans do not "fall into the opening" because gravity works different than we have understandably misunderstood. (Most of this is just stuff I read about and am trying to remember as best I can, although I admit its hard to believe, I don`t believe anyone knows the absolute truth so I like to entertain any possibility my mind is open enough to consider) The center of gravity is not in the center of the earth, it is in what you would think about as the crust. If the middle is hollow, then you have to imagine a single layer as if it were wrapped around a sphere of empty air, with geological features of course. The openings at the pole REGIONS (not at magnetic or geologic pol
es, earth acticvity has probably moved them a little bit at least) have gravitry even on the inside edge because the gravity always pulls you toward the crust whether you are inside or outside... maybe our marianas trench is their mt. everest and visa versa! Supposedly there is an inner sun too, how crazy would that be? Ok Im sure some people will say how stupid this is but i dont mind. I guess thats all part of the package here and anywhere else that people can say what they want about you while they hide behind a screen name. Very commendable...

the usual response: "Ya and you think its `commendable` to spout this nonsense while providing NO FACT AND NO EVIDENCE! Its rediculous! I swear the IQ level here at ats gets lower everytime i come here!"

me: jeez i thought this was a place to speculate on the unknown things in life... i even said that i dont think anyone really knows the truth, including me! sometimes it really seems like they are PAYING people to come in here and try to make an outcast of anyone who thinks a little TOO differently.

There, now at least they will have to be a little more creative when they "do the job" on this post. Maybe they will even say something to the effect of, "Nobody needs to attack your post, your ideas are doing the job themselves..." Dangit! Did I take your other idea? The best is when they completely ignore it and instead, make some other post that grabs attention. I have to say though, I do admire the art of rhetoric. Pretty easy to pick up on, too, once you can grasp a basic understanding of what drives people... their fears and desires....

Ah you mean the binding energy, i got the impression that you thought that Photosyntheses used the energy from the sun to create actual new particles.
Sorry about the misunderstanding.
However the mass increase is far to small to have any impact, and even if it did we are now braking up the sugar produced by plants in roughly the same pace as it is being made.
And it is only estimated that there is 1,877.29 billion tonnes of biomass on earth.

You are right there maybe other explanations, but if this you want this growing earth theory to get any recognition, you or someone else are gonna have to find one explanation that actually works.

No. No explanation is required, nor would it help. Most people will happily believe whatever they choose to believe regardless of the number or quality of theories one way or another.

Actual measurements over time would be far more useful. And so far as I know, we don't have those.
