Live oil leak feed discussion thread.

I figured I would make this thread for anyone viewing the live feeds who had comments or questions.

I've been watching the feed's here...

It has different ROV's and angles.

One thing I've noticed since earlier is the views from the SKANDI ROV's are very different than what they were just a couple hours ago, and the amount of oil spewing seems to have increased.

Just now (12:31CST) they pulled the Boa Deep C ROV 1 out of the water and there is a rather large storm going on. I wonder what affects that will have on spreading the oil.

Just now (1:19CST)

The Boa Deep C ROV 1 is back online, but out of the water.

Storm seems to have passed.

Can anyone elaborate on what the numbers stand for? Labeled 1,2,3,4 in yellow.

Seems to be my own personal thread here.

But right now (2:19CST) the Boa Deep C ROV 1 is using some sort of grinder on the side of the well. Seems to be buffing the paint off to bare metal, any ideas on that?

looking into the gps coordinates also

numbers 1 and 2 are the gps coordinates
number 3 is depth 4 has something to do with the camera angle i think (not sure)

but these coordinates are east latitudes so the have to be east of the greenich line
12 degrees east is afrika and 13 north is northern hemisphere

i think they are cleaning to weld something in place

I was pretty sure they were coordinates although not entirely sure. How would I go about converting those numbers to a 33°45′18′′N, 84°23′24′′W style of coordinates?

Thanks for the links. I'm having trouble getting the right results, but I'll keep at it and see what I can figure out.

On a side note, the grinder seems to be removing the name labels from the side of the well now (2:49CST)

Okay whats going on in the Skandi Rov1? Do you see flames? I am really on the fence about this.

I don't believe they are flames. Theres something behind the oil (I believe the cap) the oil is coming up around, what you're seeing is the yellow cap through the oil.

i've been looking a while now
and i have seen this construction thru the oil now and then

more disturbing are the dispersant cams (scandi rov 1 and 2)
seems they are injecting dispersant into the oil directly from the well

Yeah I knew the dispersant was being used but not till last night did I know it was being pumped in at the wellhead.

I also have been seeing a whitish color mist in the past hours on ROV 1. Not sure if that is the dispersant or something else.

just saw it skandi rov 2 is holding a small white tube with its claw on the rightside
at one moment it retracted it from the plume
an sure there was the fluid you discribed comming out of that tube.
but it was skandi rov 2

but it was skandi rov 2

These 2 pictures I took at about 6:25CST. They show the white mist I was referring to earlier but this seems to be coming directly from the well.

I'm pretty certain it was not there just previously on that feed. As of this posting its still coming out.
