Saw Mars and Regulus tonight!

Just beautiful...I like to say..they are dancing in the sky together even though I know they are sooooo far apart from eachother.

This is perfect for the forth of July, could you please embellish on the
precise coordinates, as well as where it would be visible in the the night
sky to the layman human including continent(s),direction in sky, trajectory,
and the window of dates/times for each. Do the science,do the math, and
please let me know if I have to be concerned with impact.

Just want to make sure I have a cold case of Brewskies on ice for that.

Dont know if anyone mentioned this but looking at this comet made me think of the HOPI prophecy about this blue star arriving... didn't exactly spell out winning the lotery in that prophecy... we live in interesting times indeed

Well I actually tried reading this thread and sadly someone already pointed this out... Guess its just coincidence for this comet to turn blue... Funny coincidence though...

It's quite common for a comet to have a huge corona (bigger than Jupiter in this case). However, that part consists only of dust and small particles and it's weight is minuscule. The gravitational pull from the small core of the comet is too tiny to be significant in wast depths of space.

Many people said comet Holmes was the 'blue star kachina' from Hopi prophecy back in 2007. Holmes acted in an unexpected way when it expanded to become the biggest visible object in the solar system, bigger than the sun!

It was thought that this matched the part of the prophecy were it's said that the star would 'remove his mask'. Before this in 1997 comet Neat was interpreted to be the blue star Kachina by some Hopi. How would you know which of your blue comets is the one from a prophecy that's open to interpretation?

we will be observing this from the observatory.
( what a place to observe from!)

if any worthy pics are taken I will share them here.

When I come across topics like this I always look for your response 1st Phage.
You always seem to make sense of things, especially when the post sometimes turns into a runaway train.

Well done..

Nothing to get excited about - unless you're a keen comet watcher like myself. It is a bit confusing with it having the same name as the one from a few years ago (the 2007 was only really visible from the southern hemisphere but what a show it put on there).

This comet gets no closer to us than 1.2 AU or 1.2 times the distance to the sun so it's always pretty far off. It's also coming in on an orbit that is perpendicular to the solar plane so it's not like we're going to pass through where it's been or any crap its left behind. Interestingly, this would suggest that it is a 'captured' object and was probably not formed when the solar system did but arrived from somewhere else.

The lack of detail is typical for a comet of this type - it's never been observed before so nobody knows what it's made of. Might not get any brighter - might get so bright you can seen it during the day (although this is very unlikely).

We haven't had a great 'naked eye' comet since Hale Bopp years ago so fingers crossed this is a good one.

A comet in the sky that is visible from Earth is a bad sign according to astrologers. Basically, it means that there will be political strife. Kings are apt to be dethroned.

As Hamlett stated: "There is more on heaven and Earth that is dreamt of in your philosophy."

Tip: New comets are all assigned a number/letters designation by the Intrnational Astronomical Union. That number should always appear at least with the first mention of the proper name of the object to avoid confustion.

Gamma 49,

I thought the exact thing you did. The ole blue star Kachina. The green comets hue getting close to the yellowish sun may make it look blue. The Hopi black ocean prophecy is coming to fruition right now. The Native American Hopi's seem to have more of a clue than anyone else.
