Tornadoes causing havoc in Illinois, alerts issued for New Jersey Virginia,Washington,Baltimore

The Green often reported ahead of the Cells is a result of the Hail in the mid-levels which isn't yet heavy enough to surpass the Updraughts. Most times the Tornadic activity occurs on the back-edge of a Supercell (Bow-Line clusters they occur at the Northern and Southern tips) due to rotational factors influenced by inflow/outflow.

Its extremely hard to chase TNs from the Rainshaft, and most often the Tornadoes are rain-wrapped themselves. Its why chasers always position themselves on the SE edge of the storms where the dry-line is, to get a visual on the core activity outside the precipitation.
