Yes exactly. It seems to me they should have first inserted some sort of "sleeve" deep into the ground/seafloor around the pipe that the cap would
have been locked onto but maybe the intense pressure of the oil flow precluded that.
One question, I am now looking at the live feed of the spill, can someone who knows tell me what is the White stuff that comes out, Because I
can see black stuff (oil) and some white stuff.
The "white stuff" is most likely when a big volume of gas comes out. You're watching oil by and large (the black stuff) and then occasionally a
big slug of gas comes out and causes an immense amount of bubbles...that's the white stuff.
