I have been watching since 19:40 CST before they put the top hat on. It looks to me that the same amount of oil is still coming out.

I still don't think this will work but I hope it does.

Yeah, the same amount is currently coming out, but the tophat is 2 parts. the main hat, and then they attach and screw in the small pipe to it after the main part is attached. As of yet, the small/thin pipe that goes to the ship or tanker hasn't been attached.

Hope it all goes well. I am sick as hell of hearing of failures!

Enterprise Rov 1 is latched onto a valve on the top of the top Hat.

Rov 2 is hanging out below it watching the flow.

Ocean Intervention III Rov 2 has an overview of the Operation.

Hope that helps.

Gotta love that Skandi ROV, waving his little magic wand of dispersant at the huge column of oil.

Ithink he is my favorite.

I was just about to ask what that was too. Thank you for reading my mind!
Lets hope something works soon...

They have some sort of wand out at the moment that is spraying what I guess is dispersant into the gushing oil. What a very bad idea.

The gushing seems unabated if not worse since the cap has been installed. So what's next? Do they connect a pipe? I'll have to read the BP website I guess to find out what they want to do.

I can't believe they are still using that dispersant. That's what's making all the oil stay below the surface, and breaks it up into small pieces so that all the sea life breath it and then die.

Who the hell is in charge? BP, or the EPA?

I think you're right. They should let it surface and let the skimmers pick it up. Who knows where it will finally surface using this dispersant.

Darn I wish they'd stop spraying that dispersant.

It's just vandalism.

Anderson Cooper is on CNN and talking about why is there noone explaining what is going on. I agree there should be someone explaining the procedure so we know whats going on.

Even the mainstream news is reporting much criticism of the dispersant tactic. Of course Nalco, the guys who make the stuff are lobbying for continued use of their product. Horrible.

Oh yeah, icarusdeepsea, thanks for the awesome advice...except I had my reply window open for more than 15 minutes didn't I...thanks for being awesome.

I just watched 2 of those feeds and they are nothing but loops

CNN's Anderson Cooper said they called BP to speak to someone that could tell them what is going on - the person that answered said they left 1 1/2 hrs ago and he was just answering the phone! They do this late at night and don't even stay around to give an explanation of what is happening. Furious

How exactly do they plan on keeping the 5000 feet of pipe plumb and stable from this containment dome to the surface?

What is Skandi ROV1 doing? Is that a laser or is it releasing some kind of luminescent fluid?

They should put NASA in charge. So that way we know what to expect.

Yea they would tell us that nothing is happening and all we see is just swamp gas. This spill doesn't even exist.

Why dont they just say they cant do it? way better on them to admit it now.
Epic fail...beyond epic!

It is to easy for them to admit they are wrong. They just keep trying to pull the wool over our eyes. Hell they don't even know if this is going to work. How sad is that.
