This just solidifies the collective thought that is on ATS, I must admit I didn't search for similar threads as this was an "off the top of my head" idea I had on a break today after watching the live cams this morning. I'm amazed at the thread similarities.

However, it will either be a false statement, or BP will get greedy by over-producing the well during hurricane season, which will bring us right back to where we started.

On topic, I pick 8/30/2010 cause it's my birthday and I know of at least one perfect outcome on that date in history!!

I'm sure there are other perfect dates before that though so I would be just as happy if it were sooner.

I don't think they'll cap it and supertankers will become a permanent fixture on the Gulf, once it's learned it's unstoppable.

I agree with others who say we don't have the technology to fix this, because they really don't. This is so sad. In Canada, all wells are forced to have a back up well so in case something like this happens. Of course, their wells aren't at such a crazy depth.

The leak will probably be stopped on December 21, 2012.

March 30th 2011 - "Wetlands Vegetation Doesn't Return"

I'll continue in a few months if any comes true, I guess on it all, and have such a bleak outlook because of the continued failures...but in all seriousness, I truly hope none of them come true! This is already a disaster beyond comprehension and we can only guess at the possible outcomes.

I also predict if not stopped by the end of the year 2010, we just may have our ELE come 2012.

Here's my prediction and guess -

This wasn't an oil leak - it was an act of terrorism. The explosion came right after Obama was going to allow more offshore oil drilling. All the executives were present at the time of explosion.

I think a small nuke/dirty bomb went off under the drilling platform. The leak was just an excuse for containment efforts for the contamination from the bomb.

The leak will magically be contained after the Giza blockade is substantially lifted.

Just a guess....
