Israeli Knesset member's eyewitness account

edition.cnn.com

Hanin Zoabi, a member of the Israeli parliament, was on board the Miva Marmara, the ship that was the scene of a confrontation between activists and Israeli soldiers. That clash left at least nine people dead.

The Israeli Navy fired on the ships five minutes before commandos descended from ropes that dangled from helicopters, Zoabi said during a press conference in Nazareth, Israel. She said passengers on board the ship were unarmed.

A shot across the bow is used to warn a vessel to stop. If they had wanted to fire on the vessels they would have hit them. Any nation has the right to stop ships in international waters if they believe they are bound for their territorial waters without permission or for illegal activities. If the "activists" had not attacked the commandos no one would have been hurt.

holy zionist propaganda fella how are you? since when is gaza israeli waters? i think it has been well documented that the passengers, yes the so called al-qaeda linked passengers of whom among them are pulitzer prize winners, retired us military, european MP's, holocasut survivors and even a knesset MP, were unarmed. there were no weapons on board the ship. OMG no they found bullet proof vests and whatever else it was, that is surely proof of ther terrorist intentions!!! ever wonder maybe the gazan civilians might need something like that to try and help keep themselves alive considering they are caged in and israel bombs them at will...

You don't shoot across the bow of a ship that's anchored for the night. The flotilla was stopped, resuming in the daylight.

Read some about her.

The party she belongs to has 3 seats out of 120 and doesn't believe Israel should be a Jewish state. She thinks Iran should have nukes and a bunch of other ideas.

Her own people are now calling her a traitor.

So basically you're saying anyone can be borded in international waters if they are thought to be a threat. And the nine lifes lost was just a shrug of the shoulders and " hey we believe they 'were' entering our waters"

Thats a joke if something like this can stand and go unpunished!

When someone begins a post with an insult, it is a sure sign that they are mentally/logically bankrupt - so why pay attention to anything else they have to say?

Perhaps your obvious hate of Israel - or is it the Jews? - has blinded you to other and all motives and possibilities related to this incident. Conflicts are never as one-sided as you seem to want to portray. Neither side is blameless.

Examples of questions you could/should be asking:

IF truly a humanitarian mission, isn't getting the aid to the so-called "Gazans" supposed to be the important thing here?

IF this was truly a humanitarian mission - and nothing else - why not agree to dock the ships at an Israeli port to make sure no weapons and terrorists were on board, then truck the aid to Gaza?

IF this was truly a humanitarian mission - and nothing else - why use up space on the ships with all these "passengers", when even more aid could have been placed on board instead?

With no valid answers to any of the above, I'm afraid the real agenda of the organizers of this so-called "humanitarian aid" effort is on display for all to see.

The really sad thing is that it is obama's perceived weakness due to his policy of appeasement that have allowed all this to happen.

Sadly, that is the self-evident position of the international community.

Not one nation I can think of would not intercept and seize a ship they felt posed a threat. Of course, that is not to say they were a threat. But since, like sexual harassment, the accuser (RIGHT, WRONG OR LYING) has the defacto force of law on their side, it is impossible to escape that this opportunity to abuse the law is available to most countries with a Navy.

Remember..., it use to be narcotrafficking that was the universal excuse.... now it's terrorism. Carte blanche to do as you will, and worry about fallout later.

ok thats like me wanting to get aid to the poles in the warsaw ghetto and i get to the border of poland and the nazis r like here, dock in gdansk, we'll give it toem.. we promise.. its called a blockade for a reason, they want to starve the palestinians into submission. if the israelis truely were giving all the humanitarian aid they recieved to go to gaza, which they obviously dont, then you wouldnt be seeing the death and poverty and so forth in the "Gaza Ghetto". they used the space with passengers cause it was a passenger ship... what kind of arguement is that? 4 cargo ships and 2 passenger ships, that was the flotilla...

im not anti-semite at all.. whenevr anyone plays that card it shows you have nothing else to play, much like how illegal immigrants here in america play the race card. i am however anti-zionist fundamentalist religious zealot craziness.

"they used the space with passengers cause it was a passenger ship... what kind of arguement is that? "

Brilliant! Let me paraphrase your "logic". Let's see, we're supposed to be taking aid to starving people, but unfortunately all we have are these 2 passenger ships, so ding! let's take passengers (from states that support terrorism and have weapons) instead. Don't you suppose they could have put food in the passenger cabins and left the terrorists off instead? IF aiding the palestinians was their real agenda ...

Translation - it's pretty much the same thing - when anyone plays that card it's only a smokescreen that people use in an attempt to disguise their true anti-Jewish agenda.

Interview with former US ambassador Richard Peck (unfortunately, I cannot embed the video, but it can be found in the source)

Upon returning home to Maryland after being deported by Israel, Peck gave an interview to Democracy Now in which he said Israel's explanation of the raid is "as full of holes as a window screen."

Passengers on board one ship were seen in video footage released by the Israeli army using sticks and other makeshift weapons in a vain attempt to stave off heavily armed Israeli soldiers. Peck argued that they had the right to defend themselves from attack.

"These [were] heavily-armed commandos who were in international waters to capture a ship full of men and women, who were not bothering Israel, who took what steps they could to prevent them from doing it, [and they] are accused of attacking [the Israelis]," he said in the interview which was released on Wednesday morning.

"They were defending the ship. The Israelis were attacking it. And to see someone use a deck chair against a heavily armed Israeli soldier, I mean my God that's a dangerous weapon," he said sarcastically. "It's called twisting the story. if you come to attack me and I defend myself, that's considered legal in law."

At least nine civilians were killed in the raid and scores were wounded. Several Israeli soldiers were also reportedly injured.

Referring to his deportation Peck said, "I was expelled; I was deported for having violated Israeli law. And I said to the gentleman, 'what law have I violated?' He said 'you have illegally entered Israel,' and I said 'now, wait, our ship was taken over by armed commandos, and I was brought here against my will, and you call that illegally entering Israel? You and I went to different law schools, guy.'"

He also said he believed Israel had done itself a disservice with the raid: "I speak with total sincerity - I think Israel has done itself some real damage here."

Irgun

en.wikipedia.org...(group)
Stern Group

On 6 November 1944, Lehi assassinated Lord Moyne in Cairo. Moyne was the highest ranking British government representative in the region. On 12 January 1947, Lehi members drove a truckload of explosives into a British police station in Haifa killing four and injuring 140. During the lead-up to the 1948 Arab-Israeli war the Cairo-Haifa train was mined several times. On 29 February 1948, Lehi mined the train north of Rehovot, killing 28 soldiers and wounding 35. On 31 March, the train was mined near Binyamina killing 40 civilians and wounding 60. On 9 April 1948, about 120 members of Lehi and Irgun, in cooperation with the Haganah, attacked Deir Yassin, killing between 100 and 120 inhabitants, mostly civilians. Although Lehi had stopped operating nationally after May 1948, the group continued to function in Jerusalem. On 17 September 1948, Lehi assassinated UN mediator Count Folke Bernadotte who had been sent to broker a settlement in the dispute.

On October 28, 1948, the Arab town al-Dawayima (also spelt Dawaymeh) was conquered during the 1948 Arab-Israeli war by the 89th Commando Battalion which was composed of former Irgun and Lehi forces. 455 people were killed at al-Dawayima including 170 women and children

en.wikipedia.org...

1946, July 22 91 people were killed at King David Hotel Bombing mostly civilians, most ... staff of the hotel or Secretariat,
41 Palestinian Arabs, 15-28 British citizens, 17 Palestinian Jews, 2 Armenians, 1 Russian, 1 Greek and 1 Egyptian.

1948, April 9-April 11 107-120 Palestinians killed and massacred (the estimate generally accepted by scholars, instead the first announced number of 254) during and after the battle at the village of Deir Yassin near Jerusalem, by 132 Irgun and 60 Lehi fighters.

There were more terrorist attacks than listed but those 2 are the most infamous. see the list.

Former Irgun members have held positions of highest influence in the Israeli political and security establishments since independence
