Back in 2005, the US had killed it's 6th No. 3 Al Qaeda leader.

By always having a third, you never have to get the first, and there's always someone to kill. What a joke.

I love it when they get a "number."

As if nobody will ever replace him?

Getting "number 3" or even "number 1" is about as relevant as getting "number 748."

I wonder if these people with their numbers actually believe that getting "number 1" would do anything whatsoever to the organization?

Quite simple really

Each time you kill no 3 his successor becomes the new number 3.

This isn't the Prisoner you know.

With any heirachical organisation that is appended numbers the numbers become fluid. Its not like they say 6 times we killed Mr Al Fazi, rather we killed the 6 people who occupied the post of no3 in the organisation.

ETA - the premise of the ops Title is wrong

There will always be a number 3 - as long as the organisation exists - just that the person will change.

You have to understand that most politicians can't count beyond three. In fact, one of my very young grandchildren only counts to3. To him, 3 means "much more than 2". Now that I think of it, my grandchild could do the job of a politician, without all the harm. Just think, we'd never have a deficit more than $3.00.

Number 4 you are now Number 3.
Dang, I just finished stenciling 4 on all my drawers and socks.

And as you can see we are trying very hard to flush out who ever is a member of that organisation, by being present in Afghanistan. We shoot at everyone who shoots at us.

Meanwhile, at least 5 No .2 Al Qaeda have been killed or captured.

So, if a No. 2 and a No. 3 is killed, does that mean an No. 4 becomes Bin Ladens Main Man? The current No. 2 was at least originally a No. 10, then the No. 3 Killed today would have to have originally been a No. 20, because there have been No. 4's and 5's killed too.

Can't capture, or kill No. 1 though.

I almost Number 3 myself

The number one on the list should be the CIA and number two should be ISI.

CIA will never be found because they are stationed in the US where the Americans are not looking
