I agree with the other members.....it's a bird.

I have posted the whole photo for context including most of the EXIF data - scroll right (the screen grab cut off the last few lines of the table)

to me it looks like a parasail. i don't know if that is done in that area but it just screams that to me for some reason.

Thats definitely a bird;
MUFON needs to review the images before they post them

I agree.. I saw that too. Why didn't he just have his friend take the picture?- if his friend is human that is.

Sorry I don't agree with the bird explanation. I have been a pretty keen birdwatcher all my life and this object just instinctively seems too angular to be a bird.

There are way too many straight lines, no splayed feathers or variation in reflection from what would be the body, wings or head. The part that has been pointed out as the tail doesn't look right either. You would normally be able to see the underside of the tail and it's shape as distinct from the bird's body from this kind of angle. A birds body and tail would not appear as one uninterupted block like that. You can usually identify birds in flight from the tail shape, a cormorants tail and wings are quite thin and narrow and stick out from the body.

A crow seems to be a more likely match but I'm still not convinced as the angular reflection on the object and the lack of distiction between tail and body look odd.

I'm not saying this can't be a bird that looks odd because of the angle etc. but it just doesn't look right to me. I'm more inclined to think this is some kind of kite or radio controlled object.

A flying skate?

A prototype drone?

A Frisbee?

A Stealth UAV?

A helicopter?

An RC glider?

Really?

Maybe it's a 40 year old cheeseburger stuffed in an old stocking that the US navy launched 400 miles away with their top secret rail gun!

Yeah, that's what it is...

Could be a UFO... wish he had video. Will be interesting if anyone can do pixel analysis.

What you have to remember is that all photographs have a resolution limit that may make it look angular doesn't mean it was.

I posted this earlier and I go with this .

www.nicolasdory.com...

Black beak the feathers usually have a sheen to them hence the light area on wing and at that distance the camera cant capture all the detail.

It's probably a Bald Eagle. They are common in Oregon. You can even make out the distinctive eagle head shape.

I completely concur with the bird analysis - I saw it very clearly the second I opened the photo. It did not cause me one bit of confusion and my immediate repsonse was, "Bird!"

Consider the following:
Bird or UFO analysis
Seagull or UFO?

These are only a few examples where the camera had been fooled. There are others. I am going firmly with "Bird"!

Yep, You're probably right a bird is going to be the simplest explanation for this. For some reason though I'm still only 99.9% convinced it's a bird.

My vote is also for "bird," and I bet if you ask the person who took the photo they'll say that it wasn't noticed when the photo was taken but only discovered on it afterwards. That almost always means bird.

Also notice the lack of atmospheric haze on the object, which would indicate that it is relatively small and close to the camera.

Thanks guys you have me convinced it is a bird. Im glad someone brought up a parasail too as for a minute there I even thought hang glider.

I guess the reality is that the simplest explanation really is bird, given the environment where the picture was taken and all that.

It sucks how almost every time we get a good quality, high res image it ends up being something other than the elusive UFO.

I've reported to MUFON before and they allow you to upload your own image if you have one...at least if I remember correctly that is...I really would have liked to read the rest of the dude's story too.
