The Attack on the Terrorist Flotilla

Regardless of who is at fault here, all of you folks who keep claiming that these "peaceful aid workers" would not have put up a fight if Israel had boarded the ship in Israeli waters rather than international waters, are either extremely delusional or just plain full of it. These people were looking for a confrontation from the moment that ship set sail and their own words and press releases state as much. They would have reacted the same no matter where their ship was boarded.

Anyway, both sides can be blamed for this. Both sides went about things the wrong way, and a confrontation between Israel and this aid boat was inevitable as the captain and his crew would have refused to cooperate no matter where they were, and Israel would not and should not have been expected to let a ship travel to Gaza without inspection.

Things are not as black and white as many of the anti-Israeli posters here and the anti-Palestinian posters here would like you to think.

Im sorry, but anyone who says "I come in peace," while beating someone with a blunt object just deserves to have their butt kicked. Clearly both sides of this issue thought they were in the "right"

I dont know about you guys, but if Im a "peaceful" person, I'm not going to attack some highly trained soldiers who just want to check to make sure everything is as its supposed to be.

In this case wouldnt it have been easier for the people who are supposed to be peaceful to just not instigate a fight?

Territorial Waters extend out 12 nautical miles and the contiguous zone extends 12 miles beyond that. News reports indicate that the boarding took place 70 nautical miles beyond the Territorial Waters or 58 miles beyond the Contiguous Zone. This is what happens when people interpret what they want from the internet , without having a working knowledge of the info they are quoting. CD420 , do you even know what the "Exclusive Economic Zone" is? It is used to claim rights to natural resources and protect ecosystems. Basically , It is there so Large countries can't impose their will on smaller countries and fish their waters bare or drill off of their coasts for oil.

Right HERE in the UN Law of the Sea Part V: EXCLUSIVE ECONOMIC ZONE. It clearly States:

Article73 Enforcement of laws and regulations of the coastal State

1. The coastal State may, in the exercise of its sovereign rights to explore, exploit, conserve and manage the living resources in the exclusive economic zone, take such measures, including boarding, inspection, arrest and judicial proceedings, as may be necessary to ensure compliance with the laws and regulations adopted by it in conformity with this Convention.

2. Arrested vessels and their crews shall be promptly released upon the posting of reasonable bond or other security.

3. Coastal State penalties for violations of fisheries laws and regulations in the exclusive economic zone may not include imprisonment, in the absence of agreements to the contrary by the States concerned, or any other form of corporal punishment.

4. In cases of arrest or detention of foreign vessels the coastal State shall promptly notify the flag State, through appropriate channels, of the action taken and of any penalties subsequently imposed.

Since the vessels that were boarded were not active FISHING Vessels and NOT engaged in any sort of Maritime Trade , They were not to be boarded according to your reasoning.

I see this as reckless violence, perpetrated by paranoid psychos. Yes there may be better ways to protest - yet none of them work with Israel. 10 people have paid with there lives fighting for what I and many others see as a just cause.

Black and white in this world? - Why are we all here on ATS? Any one man can see who was in the wrong. There was better ways to deal with this.

Israel does not understand peace - they have made that crystal clear. Any other country would be slaughtered for such an act, yet if we allow this to continue and Israel will freely continue to massacre the innocent.

IDF radioed to the boat and told them they were landing and to stay calm, that they are taking the boat to Gaza.

How about I call you on your cell phone to tell you to stay calm as I enter your car with a firearm and tell you I'm driving your car back to my house. How calm would you be? Did you actually see the picture of the "weapons" or are you just a JIDF agent? Among 700 "terrorists", they found "knives and clubs(obviously raided the kitchen and broke off table legs), enough to barely cover a blanket.

I never said the intelligence was correct, just that it is obvious by their reaction that they had such intelligence. Israel has shown that it is quite capable and willing to react to false intelligence in the past, and/or alter intelligence for their own benefit.

To my knowledge none have been launched into Israel.

I am sorry to say that all of us have fallen into a political trap.
This incident is another step of the muslim war on israel, whom unfortunately, have reacted exactly as the Hamas and IHH predicted.
There are a great many things that my fellow men are not aware of.
Israel is one of the most democratic countries in the world: our parlament like any other has right winged parties, and left winged.
We also welcome the enemies of israel into our midst.
In our parlament, there are men who support terror against israel semi-openly, meet enemy representatives and even betray the country.
Show me a country in the world who would allow representation of a minority who would do harm upon the country itself.
Thus israel, in order to form a coalition, our prime minister must cut deals with other parties and offer them seats in the government so it wont topple and thats how our ministers are not men of proffesion, but men in the right place in the right time.
That is the reason gentlemen that you do not know the truth!
We are unable to form a united front!
We are unable to react to the flotilla crisis!
We are unable to show you the truth!
We are unable to show you all that we are under attack!
And above all, you do not know that all of us are a part of the world jyhad.

What you must know is that the blockade is a lie.
It does NOT prevent the passage of goods out of gaza strip, it merely sets a designated route so the goods can be inspected.
The ships whose aim to lend goods dock in a harbor 30 kilometers north in ashdod, there the goods are inspected and moved into trucks which brings them into gaza strip.
Then the goods are siezed by the Hamas and distributed by their whim, not to the needy, but to their supporters.
Gaza doesnt have electrical and water infrastructure.
Yet they have water to drink, electricity to spend and it all comes from israel.
Israel supplies an enemy entity with fuel, food, water, electricity, medial goods etc while that same entity has fired missiles on a civilian city for 8 years(look up sderot on the net).
It does not seem possible, right?
You dont believe me.
How does a country sits complacent while suffering civilian casualties for 8 years while supplying the enemy?
No country in the world would ever allow that.
The russians are killing chechnian terrorists with extreme prejudice, not to mention georgia couple years back.
The americans are flattening villages and fling about half hearted apologies.
The chinese are wrecking havoc in tibet.
Millions upon millions are killed in afrika (and Israel is the only country around which help the refugees from darfur who suffers a hollocaust for which you, my fellow men, care not)
So why do we all care about 9 deaths at sea?
9 deaths we could have avoided had erdogan listened to our pleas to let us inspect the cargo for weapons (which we caught plenty of in the previous flotilla and i assure you gentlemen, you can find these pictures on the net).
You care, my fellow men, because you see it on the tv.
You care because the muslim amongst you care.
You care because you live in your happy homes in your quiet life and cannot imagine the situation that reigned in israel 10 years ago, when your humble writer could not go to drink coffee for fear of suicide bombers.
