The flotillia will already be in an israeli harbor by the time Turkey can mobilise their ships. I think it's about ensuring the survivors get back home alive now, rather than being too rash. If there's another attack on the flotilla, then anything is possible, but hopefully israel wont be that stupid and they'll release all of the passengers and this will go to the UN.

And BTW, if I were within a hour of the Israeli embassy I would go protest there right now. But unfortunately I'm at 8 hours from there.

Do you live in Turkey?

Obama did say in his book that if things turned south he would 'side with the muslims'. so the US supporting israel is a wildcard.

Why do some poster's insist that they know who was right and who was wrong.
None of you were actually there.
For example
Scenario 1 - Israel attacked Flotilla after warning shots and inflicted injuries
Scenario 2 - The Flotilla was dead set on course for ramming a blockade boat and refused to alter course, Israeli boats fired on Flotilla to prevent a naval collision.

Both of these are plausible and would result in different parties shouldering the blame. No one who is posting currently was on the boat.

Why jump to conclusions before you even know more facts?

I tend to think that anyone thinking this will result in imminent war is blowing this a little out of proportion. In a large mid-east war, turkey loses and israel loses. Most of the mid-east loses. America loses (gas). All for the sake of

If Turkey attacks Israel then it's possible that with all the world against Israel the US can finally break ties which would be really bad since that would be an open call for the world to rally against Israel.

Hopefully it doesn't come to that, cause that's the last thing Israel needs looking at their history

Not to mention because of this, Hamas and/or Hezbollah might be pissed enough to launch rockets at Israel. This could set it off.

And if Israel goes in Gaza or Lebanon, Turkey PROMISED that they would side with them against Israel.

This could go wrong in several ways.

that could be Israel's intentions, and this incident will be forgotten if war breaks out in lebanon. Unless the flotilla were the aggressors in some way.

Because a lot of us were watching it live on the boats as it was happening. Thus it's kind of hard for anyone to spin considering we all just watched it as it happened.

On that note, I am hearing unconfirmed reports that turkey is sending air support. I repeat, unconfirmed.

If that is the case, then it looks like Turkey is directly protecting the flotilla using its military assets. Under such circumstances, the IDF will have to decide its next move. If it follows the policy laid out by the Israeli government, then the flotilla must be stopped and thus the IDF will have to confront Turkey militarily. The situation could escalate dramatically. Else, Israel could chose not to react and allow the flotilla to reach Gaza, thereby calming the tensions.

Soldier stabbed in stomach during raid on aid ship

"An Israel Defense Forces soldier was moderately injured after being stabbed in the stomach as the Navy attacked aid ships sailing to the Gaza Strip. He was evacuated by helicopter to the Rambam Medical Center in Haifa.

According to IDF sources, "The sail's participants were not innocent and used violence against the soldiers. They were waiting for the forces' arrival." (Ahiya Raved and Shmulik Grossman)"

I watched the attack take place, small speeds surrounding the vessels, video of Israeli commandos firing into unarmed civilians...all in international waters, which is a crime and an act of war.

Also the two scenarios did even come close to the truth here.

Check out the videos I posted up in the last page.

Indeed. Most people don't watch the news at midnight on a sunday night.

So the propaganda begins. Anyone watching the live feeds see an Israeli getting dragged off bleeding? Also it would've been hard to stab them if they weren't there raiding in international waters in the first place... don't you think?

Thanks for the vids.

I still say a blockade is a blockade and needs to be enforced (right or wrong). And if it were me, yeah I would block them before they got too close to the shore rather than risk a rocket attack from Hamas during the operation.

But seeing soldiers rappel onto the deck one at a time into a crowd of people ... not smart. There must have been some scuffling and then some shooting.

Israel definitely could have done a better job at making this a peaceful turnaway.

That is complete Horses*** I watched the attack. These poeple were unarmed and screaming on bullhorns for the shooting to stop, in multiple languages.

Screaming over and over that the ship is filled with unarmed civilians...yeah really aggressive those peace activists.

so they were not so innocent after all.

Dont jump the gun people..calm down and let the news trickle in.

Was this a set up?

These people on the flotilla strike me as 'bleeding hearts' and im wondering if they provoked israel......if not then israel needs to be sanctioned or have something other then military action taken.

Alot of you dont realize but if military action is taken against israel.....israel will respond with nukes.

"According to Israel's private channel 10 television, Israeli marine commandos had opened fire after being attacked with axes and knives by a number of the passengers on board the aid ships, the television said, without giving the source of its information.

The station did not say whether the dead and injured were passengers or members of the Israeli navy.

Israel's army radio said between 10 and 14 people had been killed in clashes which broke out after the passengers allegedly tried to grab weapons off the naval commandos who tried to storm one of the boats."
