Theres a reason that it is called a BLOCKADE.

Block (a type of defensive move) + aid ( a type of assistance) = Blockade

If we had a blockade around an area like Somalia or N. Korea and someone aiding the enemy tried to get past it without the go ahead, then we'd do the same thing...

SM

The blockade is illegal, this has already been mentioned 100 times..

Yeah I know America would do the same, America is Israel's dad, that is why Israel is a spoiled little brat..

If the flotilla were actually "attacked" the ships would all have been sunk. They were blocked.

People were killed, it was attacked..

Why would they sink an unarmed ship?

Found in the link OP provided;
"Some 700 pro-Palestinian activists are on the boats, including 1976 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Mairead Corrigan Maguire of Northern Ireland, European legislators and an elderly Holocaust survivor. "

Just imagine if suppose this elderly holocaust survivor was one of the two reported dead...

"Zionists kill a Jew trying to render aid." How would something like this get reported?

I don't know whose prophesy it is, but I heard somewhere that Israel is going to do something so bad, the whole world will get pissed about...

This is pretty bad in my mind's eye. I hope the holocaust survivor survived this war crime/atrocity.

I was watching live as this attack occurred...Israeli commandos boarding from helicopters, opening fire on unarmed civilians, 3 dead. Yup, seemed like a bonafide assault when I watched it take place.

By the way you can't block ships that are in international waters, that is a crime...not to mention an act of war by Israel.

Agreed, they were in "INTERNATIONAL" waters.

What gives Israel the right to blockade there????

Can any country just blockade any place on earth they see fit???

God, I wish I had my own Navy Fleet, I'd show the F%$%%&% what its like to fight a real force instead of umarmed civilians.

Cowards to the core!!!!

For the record, I'm not saying it didn't happen. I would like to see the entire context in video if that's possible.

I see a blockade as a blockade, right or wrong. You KNOW what you are doing when you try to break through it. And you better know the risks that come with that.

Ok, I'd just like to say that as a staunch defender of Israel's right to self defense (just take a look at my previous threads/posts) I am absolutely APPALLED by what I am hearing. This act is unconscionable, and criminal.

HOWEVER, I BEG the ATS community NOT to take this situation as an opportunity to vent anti-Semitic hatred, or propagate anti-Jewish sentiment.

Please remember: In the same way that the actions of the U.S. Government do NOT reflect the views and wishes of its citizens, so too does the government of Israel not reflect the views of the average Israeli citizen, or the average Jew in the diaspora.

Already I am seeing a LOT of anti-Semites crawling out of their holes and taking advantage of this horrible situation to spread slander and lies. I appeal to the mods to be vigilante and ensure that this hatred is kept in check, and if at all possible, removed.

I will agree with you... the horrendous acts of the Israeli military and government are no excuse for racism, or calling for violence against a large group of innocent people.

Let us just focus our anger at the Israel Military and State.

Anti Semites have nothing to do with this, the whole world is against the Zionist regime, and that is that.

No one talked about JEws..

No one will ever, just like a white boy can't say nothing about black people, that is how European are feeling right now.

The Jews lived in that land, the Zionists were the ones who came and ruined it, the Zionists were harbored within US.

No one hates the Jews, no one generalizes against the Jews, that will never happen, but they will against Muslims..

So don't bring the anti-Semite rhetoricians here, I don't like it, it was used to justify the Zionist aggression for too long.

Well said and nice honesty...

I have NEVER hated the Jewish people, I have had many Jewish friends,
but if the people of Israel can not control their goverment then anger will continue and be vented....

Same can be said for any country but Israel has been aragont and hypocritical for too long!!!!

Change is upon them....

1. Yes a blockade is a blockade, but there will always be good people in this world who will put at risk there life to remove the aggression.

If I was given a chance, I would too.

2. Yes an unjustified assault is an unjustified assault, but there will always be good people in this world who would risk there lives to try to stop it.

I have not seen a single anti-semitic post on this thread yet. Have I overlooked something? Talking against Israel or even Zionism does not constitute anti-semitism. If in fact we want to get into anti-semitism, it is Israelis who seem to be anti-semitic for terrorizing the Palestinians. It seems that Israel's policies are anti-semitic, not people speaking out against them. I am Jewish so please don't try to say that this post is anti-semitic.

--airspoon

Edited to add: Although not every Israeli agrees with the policies of their government, many if not most, agree with the actions of their government. Same with America. Ignorance is not an excuse.

Agreed, but the G_D hating, Nazi loving, anti-Semitics will shout foul to Israel, and star each other for every hateful comment that they can think of.
Pathetic.

Protesters try to storm Israeli consulate in Turkey

Turkish police blocked dozens of stone-throwing protesters who tried to storm the Israeli Consulate in Istanbul over reports of an Israeli attack on at least one aid ship in international waters on Monday, news channels reported.

I can't find any video of that protest yet.

If true then, I think, that is just the start of the backlash. The article also mentions the Israeli ambassador has been summoned by the Turkish government.

ETA: I found that news story thanks to HERE. It is a blog covering the flotilla.

I did find THIS video a while ago. It is not worth watching unless you understand Turkish, but there is a good news story attached to the bottom.
