Brian Adam, director of the county's Emergency Management Agency, still had no answer Friday from a BP contracting firm that is storing oil-fighting equipment for Hancock County miles away in Harrison County.
Earlier this week, he said he had requested that U.S. Environmental, hired by BP to combat the oil, send the equipment here, to allow an early response if oil from the Deepwater Horizon disaster invades local beaches, marshes, rivers, or bays. The equipment includes skimmers, pumper trucks, and other items.

On May 20 I mailed your president to ask for European multi-
purpose oil skimmers. At the same time I asked the German
chancellor Merkel to offer that help to the US.
In the news two/three days later it was confirmed that such
an offer had been made.
A skimmer like the German NEUWERK can vacuum 600m3/h,
a multiple of the reported 800m3 spill per day.
Has anyone on the Gulf Coast seen skimmers from Europe
cruising the coasts or around the up-welling spill ?
What skimmers do you have in the US ?
About 10 days ago I posted this already in another relevant
thread on here.
