Chelsea Clinton was 13 years old when Rush Limbaugh began to remark often about how hideously ugly she was. Why was he so worried about how hot a 15 year old was? I guess that illegal viagara he took to the Marianis Islands could explain but that is off topic.

Anyway, can you defend that? Can you explain how Sarah Palin could have come before Clinton?

It seems that the ONE unfunny remark made by David Letterman some time ago is the ONLY incident that many people are now bringing up to justify the bashing of the Obama children.

Yes, Letterman was more than wrong and definitely stupid to say it. Many people on the left agree that it shouldn't have been said. But he has apologized profusely and eaten his words many times over.

I don't hear the same remorse or acceptance of responsibility from Glenn Beck or Hannity or Limbaugh.

What's sauce for the goose. . . . .

I do not know how far back this practice really goes but I know that it is much older than this thread would make it out to be. I remember as a child hearing all the gossip that Ron Reagan Junior was "one of them queers" because he did ballet. Back in the '80s that was still quite a nasty thing to put out about someone. It could be career ending.

This stuff happens and the fact that anyone chooses to defend anyone doing it is crazy. Albeit, Reagan was an adult as were the Bush twins so maybe they were not as vulnerable but that does not make it right and it certainly does not justify picking on little girls.

Seriously, Beck defenders. Think about what you are saying.

I am pretty sure that he knows that. This is why he called me a liar - indicating he knew exactly what I was talking about - then asked specifically for "audiotape" and not simply proof.

He then asked me specifically to state what Rush "said."

He is playing a game because he knows that technically, Rush did not say the words that Chelsea is a dog and that is what he thinks he is catching me on.

Either that or he just called me a liar without looking into it.

I am having trouble finding a third option.

Franken and his late friend Molly Ivins were lying about Rush Limbaugh in the early nineties. Rush always ignored them. So, no doubt knowing Rush would pay no attention, they weaved this whopper, based loosely on an actual event, and repeated it countless times until it became ingrained in cultural folklore. It was so ingrained that when the internet took off and LexisNexis came around, no one bothered to fact check it.

Relying on the false history he had already established, Franken repeated this lie in Lies and the Lying Liars who tell them. So I looked into it and of course found hypocrisy, dishonesty and irony.

Before breaking to a commercial, Rush asked the audience what he could do to make amends for the incident and, in an odd, spontaneous joke, proceeded to spank himself.

Was Rush trying to make the most of a mistake, or was the whole thing scripted—apologies and all? The fact that Franken had to use a fake version of events to argue his case tells us a lot. The real version has Rush talking about a “cute dog” as well as a “cute kid,” obviously not a set-up for calling the kid a dog.

You just confirmed the exact story. He did not verbally state that she was a dog but he did say she was a dog through his little skit. So what is it I was lying about again?
