NEW ORLEANS — Four conservative activists accused of trying to tamper with the phones in Sen. Mary Landrieu's office pleaded guilty Wednesday to misdemeanor charges of entering federal property under false pretenses.

James O'Keefe, 25, famous for wearing a pimp costume in a video that embarrassed the community organizing group ACORN, was sentenced to three years probation, 100 hours of community service and a $1,500 fine.

Got what he deserved, he should have done more time.

So this is what happens to investigative journalists nowadays.

Wonder what would have happened if no one exposed Nixon?

We can see the journalists in the MSM have gotten the message.

Oh well.

Not investigative jouralists at all. Ring-wing LIARS, trying to sway the hopelessly misinformed with LIES. It's worse than their FEAR card.

And this is exactly why journalists don't do any "journalism" any more. Sad really.

Got what he deserved? Exposing corruption and gets probation, community service and a fine.

No wonder the MSM sucks.

There is a difference between legitimate journalism , and privately sponsored espionage. Wire tapping is NOT acceptable behaviour . End of .

Not exactly...

nydailynews.com

Brooklyn prosecutors on Monday cleared ACORN of criminal wrongdoing after a four-month probe that began when undercover conservative activists filmed workers giving what appeared to be illegal advice on how to hide money.

While the video by James O'Keefe and Hannah Giles seemed to show three ACORN workers advising a prostitute how to hide ill-gotten gains, the unedited version was not as clear, according to a law enforcement source.

"They edited the tape to meet their agenda," said the source.

I find the slap on the wrist that O'Keefe and his gang received to be the most troubling. It sets a precedent that as long as you're from a rich, white, right-wing family you can pretty much ignore the law.

I say good for him. We need more like him and Hanna Giles. We need to get these corrupt bastard politicians and their supporters by any means available.

Keep up the good work O'Keefe!

Hey , I dont support my governments behaviour any more than I support that behaviour by the "free (read: lawless) press" . Privacy is paramount to freedom, and freedom is a more important aim than the interests of any government.

Sure they edited the video, but there is no amount of editing in the world that would change the fact that ACORN is slime. All the left had to do is show they edited it in the slightest and they were able to run with that and make it seem like it was all a lie. We know they revealed the true ACORN.

He got caught trying to expose corruption and went to far. He did nothing different that any other reporter does everyday to get the story. They just crucified him because he exposed ACORN and they knew it would be enough to discredit his original exposure of ACORN.

We need more people like him to show the public the truth about the slimy tactics being used to fool the masses.

Yeah, the freedom of the press to uncover government corruption.

2 things ...

- Acorn was a crap organization that deserved to go down.

- The people who pled guilty today broke the law and got what seems like a fair punishment relative to the crime. Call them "investigative journalists" if you choose or "party activists" it really is irrelevant ... mostly because journalists who break the law to get a story are prepared to suffer the consequences if caught. It's part of the job.

They are free to do that without breaking the law. I am free to defend myself if attacked in my nation, but going into the local crack dens and gang safehouses and slicing everyone in them into bloody chunks is still illegal. There are lines . Crossing them is ill advised.

Seeing as how his ACORN "investigation" has been exposed as a HOAX and a bad editing job, it could not have happened to a nicer person.

They should lock his ass up for fraud.

So you think journalists should be able to heavily edit video footage in order to meet their agenda's goals?

Righto, then.

I think that any editing done was done so to make it look like a edited hatchet job and discredit O'Keefe.

They told the truth about acorn. Good for them. Now on to the next dirt-bag that needs exposed.

The title of this thread made me laugh. "Acorn Pimp Pleads Guilty". Did anyone else think of a squirrel in bright clothes with a gold tooth trying to pawn nuts off on a street corner?

Have you seen the unedited footage? Did the end result of Acorn being corrupt change?

I guess you don't think journalists "edit" their footage on a daily basis?

If you haven't seen the unedited footage, how can you make such a claim?
