Former US president George W. Bush has told a group of members from the American Wind Energy Association that he is now in favour of energy from the elements

Article Source

In a call for America to diversify away from oil, he said it would be in the interests of the US government to see power come from “renewable sources of energy."

Mr Bush said that apart from the economic savings, it would also be in the interests of the environment and national security.

The former president, speaking in Dallas, said he believed that his grandchildren would be driving electric cars and that he fully believed plug-in hybrids would be the transition to a new energy era.

I would like to post my response to that with this video:

You're right he's late in favoring alternative energy. What the alternative energy market need is people who know how to present the idea of alternative energy to the people. I've always said to fight against oil and nuclear energy is use capitalism.

Yeah! Wind power!
Another lie coming from big oil!
I heard enough of this ba$t@rd$ wind power for eight years!
Here, let me give him some of my wind power (turns around and compresses abdominal muscles).

So when he had a chance to actually make a huge difference, it didn't matter squat, but now that the lucrative speech market beckons........time to break the old throwing shoes.

Exactly!!! Electric cars and windmills are the favoured non-solutions by the oil industry. They sound great, but electric cars have the problem of electricity being made at about a 33% efficency rate, and then you loose this to re-charging and friction. Basically they're only 100% clean for the environment if the electricity is 100% clean (but today most comes from coal). So before building electric cars, build a clean grid first.

But Wind Energy will never be as cheap as Solar Furnaces, or just more breakthroughs in Solar Cell, production methods. After all, all green energy (apart from geothermal) originates from the sun. So it makes sence to get our electricity directly from the source.

ok , lets start putting them up at the Crawford Ranch then.

I'm all for wind power, I just hate how those monsters ruin the landscape. I like the smaller versions for individual use.

Too little , too late , JoJo indeed. W is the one blowing wind. He's just an old man passing wind." The times they are a changin'."

He only likes this wind because he's made his money as the Oil King Pimp!

Hmm. And it was all pounded into our brains that the bush family was BIG oil fans.

Now that W is pushing for wind power , a sudden change of heart is a nice feel good story of Darth Vader finally turning against the Emperor.

Until one questions on just how much crude oil derived polymers it takes in order to sustain a nation of wind power. For starters electric wire is coated with it.

This guy should just the #@*! up! He had his 8 years to screw us over. Now it's Obama's turn to carry the torch and screw us over - and he's off to a good start.

What amazes me, is who is stupid enough to pay these guys ANY money to come and speak!? You could just go to the local insane asylum and listen to the same thing for free!

Dubya is pushing alternative energy now for the simple fact that he is now paying the piper .

Simply put , T.Boone Pickens , the self-made billionare from Oklahoma (but is headquartered in Dallas) , supported Dubya throughout his political career , from start to finish .

T . Boone Pickens is making millions off of alternative energies . He runs a non-stop televised campaign promoting his windmill construction interests .

So , no surprise that Dubya is now hawking wind-energy .

T. Boone Pickens also made a mild bid for the Presidency in 1988 , but dropped out , if I'm not mistaken .

These people all scratch each other's backs and grease each other's palms , so this latest news is no surprise .

I guarantee if you dig deep enough you will find T . Boone Pickens is connected with this .

Just curious, I understand hating Bush. I hate the man intensely. But if you really believe wind turbines are a benefit what does it matter who's stating it? Whether it's Bush or Gore they both likely have a financial or socio-political hand in the mix. You can't favor the wind turbines if a hated man claims they are needed or just because a profit is to be had? Regardless of how they get built or who supports the action somebody is making a profit.

Seems like for some folks dangling over a cliff they would actually be choosy and picky about who they would allow to assist them up. Sure, if the devil himself offered to help me for my soul I would probably just plummet to my death but as far as mortal men go any of them stating this "wind power" thing are all corrupt, lying, and rich politicians. So how do you conclude the same words from one mouth are more sincere than the words from a different mouth?

For the record I not only intensely dislike Bush I also think the wind farm thing is bogus as hell.

Oh, and doesnt Bush have some completely off-grid eco ranch or something like that? Has had it for quite a long time if I remember correctly.

Hear it is.

I just find it odd that the speaker would be attacked and not the words spoken. Certainly the man has actions and notions on his permanent record that call for an immediate hanging but what politician or even celebrity talking head doesnt? If we cast off everything the Nazi's did as far as science and medicine goes because they were evil S.O.B.'s wouldnt that be foolish?

But in the end I guess another "Let's hate W" thread is more fun than a discussion on the viability of massive scale wind power generation.

Well said!

why should we argue over 1 s.o.b's comments? We know he is a low life scum. Who cares what he suggests?
