I bet looters could clean this oil spill up faster than BP. And be less dangerous to the environment as well. Anyone got Somalia's phone number?

No I can't.. so the LiveStream is a loop. It's hard for me to see it's date and time.

Thanks.

Still I wish the current feeds were that clear looking.

Can anyone tell me how many cameras are down there filming?
It dosnt appear to be much work going on.
And i would think that if that little black pipe was meant to be collecting oil or methane then the whole leak should be surrounded by them.
Poor attempt at solving an international disaster if you ask me.
Maybe be have given up on this one and are off to exploit/ destroy other parts of the world.

Yeah, the live feed is not live. The date looks like 5/9 or something like that...

Ok, so it looks like something did happen, if we can believe the blogs that were posted by the OP, and nobody is saying anything about it.

If you go to CNN.com, the biggest news story right now is that Brittany Murphy's husband was found dead.

The MSM is worthless...it's dead in the water. (No pun intended.) Soon, all our news will come live from blogs and website like ATS.

I see nothing on the industry related sites about this as of now, so it is a toss up.
Second line.

Here's the post of that monkey fister

Hi.

I'm Monkeyfister.

I live-blogged all of that all day. Little sleep. But all the images are real. I wrote it as I witnessed it. Lots of other folks were watching, too.

I sure would like to better understand what I saw. Three major eruptions in less than 24-hours. I've been pretty glued to SpillCam all week, and have seen nothing as violent as what happened today.

Is it possible that the riser pipe is acting like a giant garden heater coil, and thawing hydrates, and forcing them up? That's my only gues as to what I saw... beside casing failure. I don't know which would be worse.

Sounds like its getting worse by the minute... I'm a long ways from the gulf but I must say this stuff gives me the shivers... what else are we in for?

It doesn't seem possible to have an underwater explosion. To my knowledge, neither the escaping gas or oil will burn without the addition of atmospheric oxygen. Please correct my speculation if it is wrong.

I just don't understand everyone complaining that too little action is being taken. BP definitely wishes this whole mess would go away so they can go about rebuilding their brand name. The government is deploying thousands of nation guardsman to help clean up the spill. The Army corp of engineers has been consulting with BP's engineers through the entire process. Obama has formed a team of engineers, from military to NASA, to help assist with the process to stop this. Who knows how many other thousands of people are assisting on this matter.

You guys just want BP to be screaming at the top of their lungs that they are sorry for this mess, and they have already said MANY TIMES that they are, but it isn't enough for you. You want to say that the governments response is inadequate, however, what do you suggest they do? They already have sent their best resources to assist in the matter. Kick BP out? The guys who's bread and butter is drilling and pumping these holes?

The government doesn't have any super secret special powers guys. They can't use their telekinesis to make this stop. They are doing what they CAN do.

Wherever the methane gas built pressure under the seabed it's likely these spots will face a collapse. Start deflating pockets of gas and oil at that depth/ pressure, and we're possibly in store for all kinds of movement. This was mentioned way earlier in one of my threads. Keep a close eye out...

earthquake.usgs.gov...

Tracking seismic activity might help too.

Y&ou are correct. Neither crude nor methane will burn in the absence of oxygen. Nor will it explode underwater (or anywhere else since it doesn't propogate a burn through shockwave.)

Explosions do not always include a flash of fire. For instance, if you over filled a scuba tank, at some point it would explode, most probably without any flames whatsoever.

An explosion is just the sudden release of pressure when a containment device fails. Much like a pipe bomb, the actual explosion only takes place when the pipe fails to contain the pressure within. In this case, the containment device is mother earth.

True but something else wich coincides with the blog-talk CAN happen... The sea-bed collapsing... We see this here in holland... In the northern provinces where my parents live there is a serious problem caused by gas-drilling... the ground is litteraly lowering... they try to counter this by pumping water in the pocket. Now take into account the pressure 5000 feet under water and you have a hell of a combination. I can picture the sea-bed suddenly collapsing wich would in turn create a pretty big increase in pressure on the oil-pocket... like jumping on a bottle of coke (cola
)... if this happened down there the oil is gonna burst out voilently after wich it will stabilize, while possibly increasing the flow

I have to puke and cry about us - human. What a farce!

And you are not only naive, too young, and too ignorant... If you want to kill yourself go ahead and do us all a favour, but don't be praying and demanding for everyone else to follow you... That only shows your own selfishness and contempt to the human race...

There are bilions of chilcren, and people who had nothing to do with this...yet you want to pray for every human to die...

Yes it is a catastrophe, but guess what?... NATURE herself has caused similar catastrophes in the past... Are you going to pray for the death of the Earth because of that?...

It irks me that young, unexperienced, and naive kids are so brainwashed, so soulless that they would pray for the death of the entire human race...

Our Government has the Army Corps of Engineers... BP has an agenda. The less volume of oil/ gas split, the less of a civil burden they answer to. Meaning, use toxic dispersant to mask the surface spill, force reporters off beaches, refrain from showing the floor cam in the first place, under report/ underestimate numbers, and keep challengers of their clean-up process at bay to avoid any witnesses.

This all goes towards damage claims. Use your brain.

They need to bore another hole next to it and "NUKE IT". What do we have to lose other than it might make the leak bigger instead of sealing it.

If they use the right kind of Nuke the radiation will be minimal. Sounds like the only option.

well except for the fact that the hole(s) dont point upward as neatly as depicted this might have worked... cant see them shoving one of those in a horizontal fashion though.... I believe we havent seen the end of this by a long shot... hope I'm wrong though
