Read the article. The police knocked on the door and a man threatened them with a handgun. You do not have the 'right' to threaten a police officer with a weapon for simply knocking on your door. You get shot for doing stupid things like that, but maybe that's evolution at work.
you dont have to comply until they kick down the door and serve a warrant.
until then you either say nothing, or shout "your trying to rob me, if you enter my home without producing a warrant i will kill you"
completely lawful threat. if they had a warrant they wouldnt be knocking on the door they would be kicking it down. they can say whatever they want to try to get you to open it and then all the rules change, and they no longer need a warrant.
Thats a load of crap. The officer could see you standing inside of your living room... as long as the door is closed he can do nothing. As soon as you make a welcomeing gesture game is on. You could be talking to him behind a closed screen door... he still cant come in. Your house is your castle and you have the right to protect it as long as your not breaking the law. Unfortunately... it is obvious in this little thread that some people do not know the law.

Between 9 and 9:30 p.m., a U.S. Census worker knocked on the door of a home on Mariner Loop.
What the hell?
Yeah with all the stories of false census workers and sex offenders hired as census workers, I would have told him/her to come back tomorrow during the day...
I don't know if he would have called the cops...

Sadly, she probably believed the rhetoric on talk radio and worked herself up to think she was defending her rights. Everybody is required to answer the census, it's always been that way so her age is no excuse.
You can't point a weapon at a census worker and you sure as hell can't point a weapon at a cop. I guess she found that out.

Do you see what are country has come too?
There have been enough bad apples in the bunch to cause suspicion.
There is so much corruption, that it has caused paranoia.
Crime is beyond escalation in many area, it's rocketing out of control.
Look at Chicago, elected officials want the national guard to come in. The mayor threatens a reporter stating that he will shove a gun up his arse.
Congressman, Senators, Governors, Mayors, being convicted of multiple crimes. Bankers and stock brokers swindling the public.
The list goes on and on.
Some people feel like they can't even trust a person in uniform, with badge and sidearm. Even threatening them with death!
The trust is gone!
Integrity has left!
What has our nation become?!
I'm afraid the fuse is lit, G_D only knows how long it is.

Agreed, i really wonder why she thought the need to point a shotgun at a census worker. If it was simply because the worker turned up then this woman made a silly move in the end no matter how you dice it.
