Britons 'Spend More Internet Time Reading News Than Looking at Porn'

Britons now spend more of their internet time visiting news websites than looking at pornography, according to a new study.

Web users spend an average of 2.8 per cent of their surfing time looking at news, as against 2.7 per cent for adult websites.

The proportion of web time Britons spent looking at explicit content has fallen over the last three years, according to research by the United Kingdom Online Measurement Company (UKOM).

Over the same period news consumption has nearly doubled.

Take a bow all you news hungry Brits. Cheers to you!! I wonder what the results would be if the same study was to be conducted in other countries? I'm inclined to be a little worried about what the U.S. statistics would be.

Well thats all they admit to anyway, unless the research was based on the actual web data rather than questionairs then shy people like brits may deny their usage. I think its an invasion of privacy to directly track peoples surfing so perhaps it was just questions possibly not even confidential.

I think it is a sign of how completely bewildered most politically aware Brits are with our governments continued failure to truely represent the people. The real people. Not the caricatures presented as the "average citizen" in popular TV shows and tabloid papers.

I have to ask though, who are these people surveyed that only look at porn 2.7% of their overall surfing time? It's about 50/50 porn/news for me.

theres guy thats all they do is porn and email theres guys that all they do is news then theres guys well like the man in congress who need a life and snek a peek when they get the chance.

be real Im on the net say 3 hours i spend two minum looking at UMMM news can i say ATS is news? lolololol and spend 45 minits checking craigslist and email . the other 15 on random links .
thsi is a patteren for me as for porn well when i get the itch I can spnd 2 hours out of 3 yae i skip the NEWS umm ATS that day lol but honesty I dont do it off-ton its getting old 2 d moving pictures big deal who cares boring.
see porn isn't additive use to love looking at boobs now its like man its just another boob big deal getting old bits I rember when playboy book was enough now its like so artistic ok boring.

bet they got their keyboards all gummed up & the sex button on the keyboard is too stuck to even work. It isn't that they don't want sex, it is just their previous sex events were a little too out of control & targeting.

Good. Porn is addicting, it destroys families, and it is probably a billion dollar industry all together.

I do not know what happens to other people when they watch porn, but all I know is I feel empty and alone after any video session.

BTW: I would look up some porn statistics but my 'porn filter' will not let me!

Well there's the warmup, and then theres finding a video WORTHY of the match-winning chokeslam.

But yea, the UK is in a real mess. Unless things radically change I can really see riots etc hitting the streets. With any luck anyway.

Maybe this study just means us Brits suffer premature ejaculation more than others in other countries (ahem, err, except for me of course)

Seriously though, I hope they never spent any money doing this research, the waste of time is bad enough. I remember a few years back there was a study done on testicles and how much sperm they produced, guess what they found out? I'll tell you and I kid you not, they found out that bigger testicles produced more sperm, they actually spent time and money on this research, priceless.
