What will be their motivation?

Will they be using a nuclear weapon?

Or will they be building a giant mirco-wave oven to 'cook' the oil?

What will the hope to gain in doing this?

I've been wondering why somebody doesn't just throw a lit match in the ocean. Seems like that would be a cheap solution to me. I think I need to tweet Obama about that.

Actually I believe you are correct. I responded similiarly last week to
a gulf related thread that the chances now are about 60%, in my opinion, that a nuclear related option will be used. Basing that conclusion (not fact) only on my location (Texas) and that there is a tremendous amount of oil within the state; and oil people ( I am not one). They usually know about anything and everything related to oil, good or bad, long beforehand, and they have lots of friends in the business, etc.

I think that we will all be glad when this is over.

Will there be French fries? Er.. Freedom Fries?

I heard that the National Brotherhood of Law Enforcement was lobbying for permission to have HAARP pointed at the center of the spill so they could fry up the world's largest-ever doughnut, just in time for their annual convention on South Padre Island.

I hope they nuke it sooner than that, as I think it might be the only way to fix the problem.

However, it is quite risky. You are detonating a nuclear weapon. I can imagine, that it might be possible that instead of nuking the leaking pipe shut, it rips a giant hole in the sea floor, causing an oil volcano with an opening 200 yards wide.

We are already getting oil smudges on our sands down here. I say throw as much Hay as possible into the water and later re-collect it. Or better yet, CLOSE THE F***ING HOLE.
