This is false. Being illegal in mexico has not carried jail time since 2008.

Mexican lawmakers decriminalize migrants

EDIT - Just wanted to add that about 500,000 immigrants get through mexicos southern border without being shot.

The Mexican president admitted on CNN last night that they deport illegals exactly like we do. If you're illegal in Mexico, get pulled over and dont have ID to prove you're legal, they deport you. Just like here and every country on the planet.

So sad, people doesn't get it, American lost its sovereignty and became the Part of the American union by corporate dictatorship the day that our leaders sold America to the NAFTA.

Truly sad.

Destroy this bill. It has done nothing but more harm than good. The Mexicans have been discriminated enough.

I'm highly saddened by ATS and it's strong support of racism. It seems as if you guys want lynching to return.

You cant be serious. Please tell me you don't ACTUALLY believe this? If so, I would argue its you who is being discriminatory against Americans and their sovereignty. You also seem to think people of Mexican decent should be above the law. You also seem to think Arizona's law is any different than federal law, which would be wrong.

In conclusion, you're very confused and should probably stop listening to ignorant race baiters in the media.

Right but the post I was replying to stated that if found in mexico illegally you would be sentenced to 2 years in prison. This was true under the old mexican immigration law, although it was rarely done, but no longer the case under the new law.

My question about that whole press conference was how come no one in the MSM asked the Mexican President about Mexico's immigration laws in comparison to Arizona's?

Because they are about on par with most laws in most countries, including the US. The problem in the US is that the laws are not being enforced. Come to think of it they're not really being enforced in mexico either.

Funny I find it just the opposite. I'm glad that the AMERICAN people are finally getting fed up with the illegal alien problem. But could you please show me exactly where in the great state of Arizona's bill where it singles out mexicans? I've read it and I don't see it anywheres. I only hope more states jump on the Arizona band wagon.

I think Obama made an enormous mistake with Calderon, the state dinner, and the press conference. This little bit of political theatre will backfire on Democrats, and I honestly have no idea what Obama is trying to do.

The thing that bothers me about your post. All good points. Is obama doesn't seem to care at all what the American people think, I think he could really careless. And that really bothers me. He was elected to defend this country, yet I haven't seen any sign of that. And yes, I agree this may just explode in the democrates faces, but obama doesn't seem bothered by that either.
I've never seen anything like this, a visiting president publically puts down the host countries state and our so called president agrees with him, unfreaking believeable.

Because doing so would hurt the narrative they're pushing, that the law is racist and extraordinary. The fact is, Mexico and every single other country have the exact same laws and enforce them. Why we're not allowed to has to do with the agenda of so called "progressives" in our government and media.

"At present, Article 67 of Mexico's Population Law says, "Authorities, whether federal, state or municipal ... are required to demand that foreigners prove their legal presence in the country, before attending to any issues."

In the wake of Arizona's new law Navajo and other Native American tribes have decided it is time for real immigration reform. Fed up with the race and class divisions and bigotry exhibited by white people the real owners of this land are rising up and demanding we leave. Unable to understand Southern caucasians who claim to speak English trespassing on ancient lands the Cherokee, Lakota, Lenape and various other aboriginals are banding together and will now begin stopping any person with white skin and demanding to see proof they are descended from Indians. Please carry complete geneological records if have Native blood (whew, I sure am glad I have some though those boxes of records will be heavy). Failure to be able to establish your bona fides will result in your detention. I understand the tribes are going to use all those government concentration camps. May I suggest you then force the Republicans you acquire to go to the Gulf Coast camps so they can be to use cleaning the result of their "Drill, Baby Drill" philosophy?

That is the most offensive post I have ever read in my time at ATS. You use the names of the Tribes in order to tell lies about them? Then, you have the gall to call yourself "nativewhataboutyou"? Listen, bub, when you understand something about being native - anything at all - come on back and chat. That entire post had a European philosophical flavor, was no doubt lost on whites and offensive to NDNs. You want to slander someone, pick someone else.

I couldn't bring myself to 'foe' even you, because of that pesky 'respected' part in the phrase 'respected foe'. Just can't do it.

As a Shawnee, I assure you that were the tribes to ever institute such insane and over the top measures, I would see to it that you as an individual were hunted down and ejected among the first wave to go.

Boxes of complete Genealogical records? What's wrong with the tribal ID cards we can already get? Stop for 'whiteness'? Shouldn't they have to DO something to require stopping first, like the Hispanics in AZ do? Speaking of that, why should we stop at tossing out only the Europeans? There's plenty of OTHER 'trespassers' around, too, if we're gonna go that route for white folks. Mexicans first, since they have the shortest route to travel, and we already had to drive their ancestors (Aztecs is what they claim, so that's what I mean) out of the southwest once, long ago, before whites came. How do you think they wound up in Tenochtitlan to begin with? Why stop there? Plenty of other non-NDNs to go. Black folks... Arabs... Indians... Asians... naw, I can see no logical reason your tribe of Wannabi NDNs should stop at just white folks. I have a curious thought - how about joining the human race and enforcing LAWS over race? How about using willingness to follow our laws over skin color?

Of course, that would mean starting out by NOT breaking laws to get here.

Congrats. Even Southern Guardian has never been able to make me physically ill, as you have. My ancestors want YOU off of our land, and yesterday is not soon enough.

They'd have probably handled it differently, though.

Nope, not confused. Just concerned for those who are being discriminated against thanks to this new law that Arizona has passed. Nothing new though, police have always discriminated those who aren't white.

Illegal immigration needs to be fixed and resolved. However this isn't the proper way of doing so.

Mexican President Knocks Arizona Law From White House Lawn

www.breitbart.tv

ABC News: Mexican President Felipe Calderon took the unusual step Wednesday morning of criticizing an American law while visiting the White House, saying cooperation is needed to fix the US-Mexican immigration issue but "such laws as the Arizona law that is forcing our people to face discrimination. If we are divided, we cannot overcome these problems."
(visit the link for the full news article)

So Can I go to mexico and have them pay for my health insurance, a place to live, and not pay taxes ? prob not

Not that I would want to, even though the country is Beautiful....

Mexico is not talking the high road, in that I've not heard any Mexican ..American or not, even take partial blame for this ......

It's not all white America's fault for a crowded state....

I hope this can breeze over and we can all be friends but both sides need to look in the mirror and say " I'm not 100 % correct, and I should admit it publicly "

Won't happen though.

Are the exact same laws in Mexico also racist? How about Canada, or any other country? Tell me, is there any scenario where deporting illegal immigrates isn't racist to you?

Looks like we'll be having ourselves a shootout with Arizona in the upcoming months

Keep in mind, your boycott seems to be backfiring somewhat, so before you start making military invasion threats, you might ought to consider a rumor I heard, which is that AZ has a couple of 'former soldiers' in residence THERE, too...

HUACHUCA. Gesundheit.

And it looks like it's against neo-nazi folk

[edit on 20-5-2010 by redxiii]

Pretty simple solution to that. Let other folks run their own house as they see fit, and look to YOUR own back yard. Funny how when you don't meddle in the affairs of others, they have no reason to defend themselves.

Imagine that.

Spelling a common German phrase correctly makes one a 'neo-nazi'? Funny, that. Racially profile much?

You sure can. You would have to find a way to work the system (fake papers, identity theft, etc.). You would be outside the law but that is the same situation that the illegals in the US are in.

That is the reason that bringing up mexicos, or any countries, immigration laws is moot. The law doesn't matter if the people in question are not following it.

According to wikipedia on illegal immigration to china:

There might be as many as 100,000 Africans in Guangzhou, mostly illegal overstayers.

and Russia

On average, 200,000 legal immigrants enter the country every year; about half are ethnic Russians from other republics of the former Soviet Union. In addition, there are an estimated 10-12 million illegal immigrants in the country.

That's right they are not rounding them up and shooting them.

So can you please stop with the "US is the only country" whine.

Got a very serious question for you. What part of 'Illegal Immigrants' sounds like 'Non-Whites' to you?
We need to deport ALL illegal immigrants, be they white, black, brown, blue, pink, purple, whatever. The only reason the focus is on illegal Mexicans is because they are the dominant population of illegals in this country.

I agree, this guy should take charge of his own country instead of complaining that the US should change.

Mexican government is extremely corrupt and I would guess even the pres isnt safe from the violence.
