Her parents sat side by side in the sand, as the tide came in,
Their arms around each other . . they had the beach to themselves.
As the cold, briny water touched their feet, they took a deep breath,
. . . and hugged.
Talk of the future no longer seemed . . . empty.
They had decided.
Into this corrupt and tormented world they would bring a daughter.
