Simple question... All i want to know. I think it should...

Nope, why should it be? Im not a porn monger, but I think if people want to watch porn, sure, they should go for it. And besides, without porn, wouldnt people be more apt to cheat on their spouse? Or wouldnt there be more rapes? Just a thought.

What are your reasons for thinking it should?

Porn to me it just a sexual act, so why should be illegal? Adults knows what sexual acts are, what is the difference.

I see that if an adult wants to watch pornography that is his or her busisness.

Although it's been said, many times many ways.....

If you don't like it, don't look at it!

I too would like to know your reasons why, and try to aviod a purely religious arguement.

The problem with internet porn is not with the adults - it is their choice to do what they want to do and I have no problem with that.
My problem with internet porn is the ease with which children can see it.
Nearly every porn site has a preview page that perhaps is not as explicit as the paid material but as far as kids go, any viewing of boob and sex toy is too much.

Should it be illegal?
Oh hell no! what would I do with my evenings? (just kidding)

But I do think there should be a better way to keep it away from the curious eyes of children.

What people want to do behind closed doors on their own time is completely their business.

Who cares? As long as it is not hurting anyone, live and let live.....

This was an early thesis topic of mine in Philosophy studies and became a sort of passion for me I carried into Communications research.

It probably wouldn't surprise anyone that as a healthy teenaged male I was all for it.

But the research is interesting. For every Feminist viewpoint out there that it's harmful, there's another that's it's helpful, and done correctly can actually be an education tool or great equalizer in gender relations.

A great mind to google on the topic is Catherine McKenna. For the alternative, Larry Flint.

There was actually quite a movement for ANDROGONY and the creation of FEMINIST PORN during the 80s that's kind of died off. Or rather has succeeded.

Dude looks like a lady is the norm as are the choices of bi-sexuality for women. You're also just as likely (if not more) to see a male being victimized in porn these days as a women.

Porn can arguably be said to be empowering to women. The strong role of Mistress or "Engulfer" has been used to counteract the violent imagery once associated with the male dominated act of sexual agression.

But for all it's pitfalls and pluses, the free speech issue remains the very cornerstone of the porn debate and as such...porn isn't going anywhere.

So why not make it better? Please.

actually I believe all porn should be banned for numerous reasons but I will expound a little on the most obvious ones.

1) Porn gives men and women a completely distorted vision of what the sex act should be like. Teenagers who watch excessive porn assume that when women don't start begging for it that either they are unattractive or the woman is frigid.
2) Porn takes what is considered the periphery of sexual behaviour and makes it mainstream. If there is amarket someone will buy it. Examples pedophilia, BDSM, beastiality.,
3) Porn makes stars out of people who would normally be earning $25 dollars on the corner turning a trick.
4) There is no proof that porn prevents men from raping the little girl scout if he didn't have access to it. In fact with the more ready access to it rape and abuse has increased.
5) Porn objectives women and demeans the sex act.

I hope that is a start to why sex should be banned.

That last sentence was a joke?? Right??

Everything you presented there is subjective opinion.

Where is your source for increases in sex crimes with relation to easy porn access? (#4 on your list)

Let people do whatever they want..... long as it doesn't hurt someone.

No more so than religion. And any woman worth her salt should be correcting those false assumptions

I don't know of anyone that would concur with this assumption. I find none of these examples to be "mainstream"

god bless capitalism.

Also none that I am aware of that shows contrary.

To quote the gun advocates, porn doesn't objectify women, men do.

Also, with that avatar, aren't you the pot calling the kettle black?

I also agree to let people do what they want, as long as they don't harm others.

And as for the sex part, if it's a joke... It's not funny... Jokes like that should not be made IMHO!!!

And if we see flying pigs and donkeys over a valley of the dead bodies of 4 billion of us people, and sex is banned... How will we as a human species survive? Artificial insemination???

Yes the last sentence was said tongue in cheek, but I do believe porn should be banned.

I quote fronm a previous posting:
"Nope, why should it be? Im not a porn monger, but I think if people want to watch porn, sure, they should go for it. And besides, without porn, wouldnt people be more apt to cheat on their spouse? Or wouldnt there be more rapes? Just a thought. "
I note you didn't ask for any stats on that? Is it becauser it doesn't conflict with your views?

I also note that nobody actually tried breaking down porn into the various levels of content? Is beastiality ok? Is pedophilia ok? Are snuff movies ok? Is it ok to brutalise either men or women on film to satisfy a sadist? Where do you draw the line. The internet has already made many former sexual pariah philias into mainstream acceptables.

Personally I can't see any value to porn. It definitely doesn't help anyone hone his social skills.

You know, it's been said that America was founded by prudes....

One look at Europe, and this truth becomes self evident...

However, this would be the wrong move, for many reasons already said...there is a reason Hooking is the oldest profession, and will always be around....it's because we all have sex drives...

Oh you are right - men have sex drives - women have what? I don't see many women rushing out to find a male hooker. In fact most male hookers get their trade from men. I think it says something about men?

Is there any value to watching Southpark??? I think not. But I still watch it...

If South Park doesn't make you laugh, then why are you watching it? I thought that was its inherent value.

Wouldn't it be great if people were appreciated for the good they did for others rather than how big their John-Thomas' were, or how sexually adept they are?

Mynaeris, I'm not disagreeing with your points about the negative aspects of pornography or society as whole for I think that's really your point...

But it begs the question what would you do about it? The classic conundrum of regulation of free speech as it applies to "porn" is "what consititues porn?"

The old "I know it when I see it" serves to only empower the "good ol' boy" already in charge and more than likely lead to tyranny.

If it's correctly defined as anything that serves only to titilate, then is your avatar porn? Cause it sure aint baking cookies.

No, women just get devices with batteries.....they are far more practical than we are...we are basically simple, stupid creatures....

I did ask for stats in my preivous post.

And as Bley pointed out, you are showing a bit of hypocrisy via your avatar. That avatar would have been surely considered "porn" not too long ago..... Then again, it is all subjective.
