Jewish Rights Groups Say Arizona Law Not Nazi

"Survivors and others are very upset about this," he said Friday. "When you exaggerate, it's very harmful to them when they know that their mothers and fathers were taken to the gas chambers without any recourse to the law. They lost children."

The Arizona law that takes effect in July makes illegal immigration a state as well as a federal crime. It requires police to ask a person about his or her immigration status if there's "reasonable suspicion" that the person is in the country illegally.

"We can't let this advance any further," Koretz said. "It is absolutely dangerous."

The Wiesenthal Center opposes the immigration law.

"We think it stigmatizes immigrants, for example, Latinos," Hier said. "A white American would never have to face such a challenge so it's openly discriminatory in its nature."

However, Hier said it is unjust to compare a law passed by democratically-elected officials to those made in a totalitarian state that gave its victims no recourse to the law.

"Here, to call fellow Americans Nazis is beyond the pale. Not every tremor is the Haiti earthquake," Hier said.

So now we have the Jewish community stepping in to say that the Arizona Law can not be compared to those of Nazi Germany.

Are the sympathizers of ILLEGAL activity going to listen to the Jewish community here who went through such a shameful time in history or are the sympathizers of ILLEGAL activity going to ignore the very victims of the Holocaust and continue to play the race card.

"It diminishes the Holocaust," said Rabbi Marvin Hier, founder and dean of the Wiesenthal Center, an internationally known Holocaust studies center based in Los Angeles.

"Survivors and others are very upset about this," he said Friday. "When you exaggerate, it's very harmful to them when they know that their mothers and fathers were taken to the gas chambers without any recourse to the law. They lost children."

The Wiesenthal Center opposes the immigration law.

"Here, to call fellow Americans Nazis is beyond the pale. Not every tremor is the Haiti earthquake," Hier said.

The German laws led to death camps "and America is not coming down that road," he said.

I think what the rabbi was getting across was that comparing sending illegals back to their country is not in the same realm of abuse that the jews suffered being sent to die in the death camps.

Lol...were they all bankers???

That's a joke...but by God it seem like every time you see the word banker...the word Jewish is right next to it.

There are hate groups growing because of this.

Everyone is looking for someone to blame for all of what is happening.

To compare the immigration law to the holocaust minimizes the horrors experienced by those who suffered unimaginable abuse, pain, suffering and heartache to such depths that you could not bare. The pro illegal people will stop at nothing. This is unacceptable. For the pro illegal immigration people who stoop this low, you should be ashamed.

A lot of historical crimes are compared to the holocaust.
Even apartheid was compared to the holocaust. Despite it's horrific and racist abuses the black population actually increased manifold under apartheid, and produced thousands of black professionals. So I find some comparisons really wrong and one-sided - if a population actually increases under a "holocaust" then it was the most spectacularly unsuccessful "holocaust" ever. Such misnomers are a rape of history.
The "final solution" of Europes's Jewry was unique.

However, the holocaust did not begin with the "final solution", or the gas chambers in 1942. It first consisted of seperating Jews and other "undesireables" from the general population. So there are certain echoes of Nazi Germay, the Nuremberg race laws and so forth.

Arizona is not full of Nazi's. People are taking it too far.

There is one thing that Americans want.

JOBS.

If they feel illegal immigration will get them back to work...then they will want it to end.

Unfortunately, most of these people don't realize that it doesn't mean S unless we fix our TRADE LAWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Obama??????? Where are you buddy? Don't you care about our economy and American workers who have lost their jobs overseas....and have seen their standard of living diminished?

There wrong in a few things, but I do agree that this isn't Nazi but it is Fascism. But when fascism was in Germany it did lead to Naziism and the horrors that abound from it. What many keep forgetting is that Nazi and the brownshirts didn't happen in a week and you had people being sent to the gas chambers it took years to get up speed especially after WWI and the hyperinflation that came about after in Germany. The Fascists that started to get power at this time used the Jews and ethnic minorities as the reason why GOOD GERMAN MEN AND WOMEN weren't getting jobs or can't feed their kids etc. etc.. And what they did was to use representation, they would say they Jewish people had much and you have nothing. There's a reason why they targeted the working class/poor, because it's easier to manipulate a person or persons who have lost their job and have less education etc. etc..

It all started off simple and silly and not important until it started to get into organized political mob attacks against minorities and Jewish people and other faiths. We look at the illegal immigration thing, they pass the law fine it's passed. Then earlier this week the Governor wants to pass a law making it illegal for highschools to have ethnic studies and such saying that it promoted hatred of other people (which is a lie, she sure seems to be keeping her attention on going after things associated with race hmmm). It's called progression, progression. People can't or won't believe that gas chambers or death camps will be used on people of hispanic look, but many of us in the world didn't believe that the same things could ever be used in a civilized society like Germany. Until whispers and full stories started to come out of the country and eventually our troops saw it first hand. It's been proven time and time again over the centuries that people will do the most despicable things if they have a reason and/or intimidated to do it.

I don't know how many people have ever sailed a boat but when you chart a course on a map and/or your off by a degree while sailing, it may look like nothing. But that one degree taken out tens or hundreds of miles can easily have you off course by alot. And that is what happened to the German people and what is happening to the American people who allow more of this beast to set in. Little by little it didn't seem like it was bad, in fact it seemed like it was doing the Jews (like Germany) or even the immigrants a favor by getting the illegals out of our country. But once the full picture came into being you where in it do deeply and even the ones that didn't like it in the first place where to scared to even do anything. You paved the road to hell with the golden bricks of good intentions. You nip this in the bud early so that it doesn't build to something that we as a country and a people won't have to shoulder for centuries.

Oh as a side note, there has been other genocides and holocausts on this planet, and these groups and potential groups have just as much right to voice what happened to them or could happen to them as others.

Hitler was DEMOCRATICALLY elected too! And the jews then taught that the pipesqueak clown with the Charlie Chaplin mustache was a joke.

It was only later the joke fell on them instead, a terrible joke. History repeats itself and we humanity would be fools to make the same mistake twice.

Illegal immigration is a problem, a genuine concern, but you need not the presumed security that Nazi tactics can bring, surrending your rights to empower the building of the SS and the Gestapo!

Heil Fuhrer Jan Brewer!!!
Sieg Heil Arizona!!!

I do wonder sometimes why it always seems that white dominated societies are called xenophobic, racist or fascist.
What happens to illegals in Saudi Arabia, China or North Korea?
Is that not racist of fascist?
In Malaysia and Singapore illegals have even been caned.

Can only whites be so racist and fascist? Well, here in South Africa a lingering resentment boiled over in 2008, when local blacks burnt African foreigners in the streets. Eventually nobody was even convicted. The UN set up various refugee camps, and some of the Somalis only left them last month - they were forcibly evicted after they demanded not to leave until they all got US Green Cards!
Now there are all kinds of rumours spreading between neighbors that another xenophobic pogrom will happen after the World Cup. Currently 300 Zimbabweans are fleeing into SA daily, even as the ANC leader Julius Malema stated that Zimbabwe style land invasions will happen here too.
en.wikipedia.org...

Back to the US: hasn't the "melting pot" always excluded some nationalities? Was it fascist when it excluded Chinese or Germans for certain periods? Of course the dilemma of the Jews was that no country wanted them as refugees before the holocaust. But aren't the Mexicans part Native American, and didn't they move across these regions before the US claimed its territory, or even existed?

But they are correct in that aspect. What many people tend to forget, is that the jewish people in Germany at the time of Hitlers rise were already citizens of that country, they did not sneak into the country. When they started the deathcamps, Germany was on the war path, and conquoring other countries, and then started to eliminate the jewish population, as well as, all undesirable people. The AZ law is not actively hunting hispanic groups. If you are stopped in a legal stop by the police, you have to present an id. If you don't have id, then that is when boarder patrol is brought in.

The last sentence does kind of make it sound like apartheid's pass laws, or making Jews wear the yellow star (in this case it is skin color, or Mexican appearance). So if you have a certain skin-tone you must carry an ID or be harassed?
Just asking - from SA I don't know much about it.

Here, both with the police and even the xenophobic violence - that wrongly killed 20 South Africans - if you're a darker shade of black, it is assumed you are a foreigner, and you better have a local ID booklet to prove otherwise.
