And what reason is that?

I heard that the census was actually a government jobs program.

Who know? You sent yours in, and they might have been at your door because of the author of this thread.

I think a line should be drawn when it comes to harassing people about their neighbors.

No no, don`t chew him out. It happened to me also. I sent mine in, and they knocked at my door. I wasn`t at home so they left a note. I gave it to my daughter, and she`s going to chew some butt on this.

Did you read what I wrote in that thread you posted the other day? Go read it.

EDIT to add:
Yep, just what I thought, you ignored it. Must be out to stir up trouble.

And.............??????

A lot of people are out of jobs right now. Even if it was for that reason, how is that a bad thing?

I'll take a government job, if one becomes available! Good pay, pension, and don't forget, they get a lot more paid holidays!

Get over yourself, already! They aren't out to get ya!

It`s because of people like this, that their district will not get the funding they need. That, is the reason my daughter has to go to the local court house and check the records. And if they lie about the number of people in the home, say, they tell the taker there are only three living there, when there are really five, those two not counted will add up when it comes to local funding.

I filled out the form and sent it in a couple of days late. This past weekend, a census taker rang and I answered the door. I told him I had sent one in already but that it was late and that was probably the reason my name was on his list. I told I realized he had a job to do and that I would help him fill another one out but I wanted to know how the Census Bureau was treating double forms since they would now have two from me. He had no idea and actually told me that even if they did count the people in my house twice that it would only benefit me because local funding was based on the numbers.
I liked the guy so I was very polite when I laughed in his face for making that statement.

So, I guess my locality will be better off because they have TWO counts of my household.

This is just a temporary job. You aren't going to see pensions or paid
holidays. You will get a wage for the time you are working as a census
taker, and that is all. It's not like they got hired for a permanent career.

As my daughter just said, if they didn`t check to see if one was already sent in, then that is to bad for the government. She said it tells you how stupid the system can be at times.

It sounds a lot like voting twice.

The more times you vote the more money you get.

Local governments might be counting people in thier local cememtary.

My daughter said thanks for the part time job. It`s because of people like yourself, that the government had to hire her to get the information.

People need jobs.

I hope they are paying for her gas and mileage.

Well, I realize this job, as a census taker is temporary. I was replying that "government jobs," as in, they are going to make everyone work, is not a bad thing, in this economy.

I think the person who I was replying to, has in their head, they will be forced to work.

My stance is that, everyone should be put to work to the best of their capabilities, in government jobs. I don't see a problem with it.

Many people who are on disability would love to work if they are able, rather than sit at home.

Also, I think that like Israel, everyone should have to either work a government job, or, be in the military for so many years. Paid, of course.

Isn't there a union for Federal employees?

Perhaps you could petition them to make these temporary government jobs without benifits permanant government jobs with full benifits?

I'm sure there all all kinds of things the government needs to count after they get done counting people.

Yes, people need jobs, but, why do you want to add to the problem? Like she said, this is why the government has to spend more tax money. And yes, they pay for both.

All I have to say is that I don't know what your beef is, in filling out a census.

Could you have some pertinent points in no doing so? Probably, but, "I heard," means nothing.

You have no facts to back yourself, no real reasons, no point, other than you are not going to do it.

Be yourself, that is okay, but when you tell other people not to do something based on "I heard," then there is a problem. Sadly, other people will listen to you, just based on your paranoia level, alone.

Frightening!

You think that`s bad, go read his other thread, he now has my daughter demanding answers and using her gun to back it up. It`s because of people like this, that my daughter may get hurt or even killed. All because they post garbage like this for the world to see.

I saw that. I can only say, that I think there is more to the picture with this person, who has this thread.

Your daughter, has a right to protect herself, given that she goes door to door, to do her work. It's not a safe thing to do, even in a good neighborhood.

My feeling is this person, with the other thread, has illegal activities going on at their premises.

I hope and pray, really that law inforcement officials show up at this persons home, because I do fear for the safety of a census taker there.

My daughter said, that one house she had to do a follow up on, a woman answered the door, and my daughter could hear a bunch of children in the living room. So my daughter asked the woman if she was baby sitting, and she said "no". So my daughter took it that those kids was hers, and did a fast head count, then left. She verified it at the court house, that those were her kids. This is what my daughter goes through in that job.

That is really a pretty ignorant statement.

Careful now you could get yourself in trouble.
