MCALLEN - The Texas Department of Public Safety has released a statement reguarding an internal memo leaked to CHANNEL 5 NEWS.

The statement says "The Department of Public Safety does not generally comment on law enforcement-sensitive communications. The document related to Mexico that was leaked today was not intended to be released to the public because DPS has been unable to verify the accuracy or credibility of the claims made in the letter.

The memo was intended to aid law enforcement agencies in gathering information and to remind law enforcement officers to be aware of their surroundings at all times.

DPS values its law enforcement partners and understands the importance of intelligence sharing in an effort to ensure public safety."

It's refering to a memo that warns of potential violence in Mexico this weekend.

At the same time CHANNEL 5 NEWS sources have confirmed the Zetas are preparing for an attack near Reynosa in the next few days.

The same sources recommend not going into Mexico along the border because of the possible danger.

This all comes just days after the United States State Department issued a revised travel warning that included Tamaulipas and Sinaloa as hotspots for drug violence that should be avoided by American travelers.

This just came out early this morning. It appears Texas border police agencies are very concerned over reports of the possibility of violence that they are being told to expect in the next few days. The media source has also confirmed similar intelligence through their channels. Whether this be drug related ( we wont discuss some of the video I have seen come out of the region involving that) or testing the weak resolve of the American people and their unwillingness to support Arizona in their illegal immigration battle remains to be seen.

UPDATE: This memo is in reference to expected drug gang violence in Mexico this weekend. (see below followup with link)

If they keep doing what they have been doing, then those drug cartels will see the peoples' resolve. I expect pretty soon all four of the states bordering Mexico will have laws similar to, if not nearly identical to the Arizona law. Then, anybody who comes over the border causing trouble won't have a massive population of illegals to shelter them.

Link to telecast by media source relating to internal memo.

The emphasis is on drug gang violence expected within Mexico this weekend. Texas concern with this relates only to the possibility of "spillover violence" as a result. All in the border region are urged not to wear black this weekend as this is how the gangs will identify one-another. The report also expressed concern over a potential buildup this weekend of not only Border Patrol agents on the US side but Mexican military presence on the Mexican side of the border.

It's only a matter of time until the violence spills accross into the US.

We must all prepare and be ready to react when the SHTF. It's coming and you better be ready.
