I challenge you to explain why you insist on evidence in a case that is purely based on what the man says he saw.

First off, I have every right to ask for evidence whenever a claim is made. Everyone should do the same.

Second, that is exactly my point. People are proclaiming this man's claims as proof of a cover-up of extraterrestrials, when there is absolutely no proof, whatsoever.

I'm not asking for scientific evidence, I am asking for anything that would corroborate or verify his story. None has been forthcoming.

Thanks everyone,

It appears this is the real deal and this story is huge, I appreciate all the information you posted about Mcelroy's legitimate history.

I am glad Disclosure is happening. We in the UFO ET field continue to win win win win and win against the debunkers, debunkers are scrambling in crisis mode to catch up with reality

We dont know if its the real deal. No evidence to prove anything at the moment. Maybe he will speak some more soon.

I don't think he will, this really seems to be just him getting it off his chest and then returning to his life. You have to have regard for a man t do that, if it's true then all the better and I really hope it is...

Ultimately, we have to believe people based on what they tell us and how close they were to the items in question.

For example:

Skeptics will use the familar "We have to be skeptical"

Or to paraphrase:

"Trust us, we are in essence skeptical for honest reasons"

Well, if we turn that skepticsm around, how do we know any skeptic or debunker is honest? For all I know they could be paid off or just lying through their 'honest teeth'

Yet, I don't accuse every skeptic I see. I give 'them the benefit of the doubt'

In this case, I think caution is advisable, but being overly skeptical is uncalled for. The man has no reason to lie, seems credible and seems concerned about the way things are going on our planet. All of this speaks to his credibility or at least "POINTS THERE"

None of this "PROVES" he is credibile, but it certainly "POINTS" in that direction.

So we should extend some courtesy until we find otherwise, the same courtesy the skeptics wan't from those who aren't so skeptical about this topic.

Who is this man, "Henry W Mcelroy, Jr"? I did a google search and found many references to this video about aliens. Precious else is out there on him. Wouldn't such a person at least have a listing in wikipedia? Nope, nothing. Did he really even serve in the NH state legislature? Wouldn't a news story exist about something he did other than the current claim he makes in a video on youtube? Nope, nothing.

If he did serve as a state legislature...so what? Why would such a lowly position in a state legislature provide you with access to such highly guarded documents of a President of the US? Based on this short research on my part and with absolutely no documentation, I'd have to say HOAX till proven different. Next.

Don't be such a skeptic based on a poorly done Google search. I've found the following about this man:

www.sianews.com...

www.devvy.com...

www.gencourt.state.nh.us...

Looks like he is a past NH legislator.

Big step in the right direction, the more credible people who come forward with testimonies like this, the better. There's a massive mounting pile of evidence for the existance of intelligent ETs, it's got to be only a matter of time before it's put to bed for good.

Like so many whistleblowers before him ..he is probably dying from some sort of in-curable cancer and could care less about the consequences of his actions. If he is in good health he will die of an accident, or be comitted to sanatrium 7th Floor of Bethesda Naval Hospital has been the laast stop for a few. If this happens within the year ..we know he was telling the truth.

I get the impression that some skeptics on this thread, deep down are just the slightest bit worried that what this man says may be for real. Hence the 'la la i'm not listening!' type arguments.

Some people won't believe it until they shake an E.T's hand and maybe not even then.

His claim cannot be disproved nor his standing denied so his mental health must be brought into question.

Low tactics. Very low.

I agree 100%. Actually I would have found this man's testimony highly questionable if he HAD produced a document showing what he claimed. It would have reaised all sorts of other questions. I think one would be best served to look at the man's history - does he have a history of making crackpot claims? Does he dramaticize or read things into context that really aren't there?

Hello everyone. I am the original poster of this thread. I want to
express my sincere thanks to everyone who has taken the time to
read and post comments in this thread.

There is no right or wrong response. The fact that a presentation has been made by Mr. McElroy, both in writing, and by the video posted to youtube.com on May 12, 2010, has produced a flood of comments one way or the other is good, and what makes members of ATS great; that they are willing to both listen to what a person has to say, weigh the merits of same, mostly from their own perspectives or beliefs, and then comment accordingly, with questions or suggestions on how to verify this information, accept it or debunk it. For that I applaud you.

I think an observation from William Glen, is apropiate for this situation:

"the success of a hypothesis, or its service to science, lies not simply in its perceived "truth", or power to displace, subsume or reduce a predecessor idea, but perhaps more in its ability to stimulate the research that will illuminate … bald suppositions and areas of vagueness.[44] "

Source: en.wikipedia.org...

I would also like to repeat my statement from my original post:

"Disclosure is coming people. This is just one more sign of same"

Which is exactly what I meant. Is this video and the print articles absolute proof of ET's and that should be accepted as such with no further
questions asked? The answer is no in my opinion. I do believe however that the video is NOT a hoax, and is a sincere attempt by a man who is seeking the truth, to release the information that he was privy to, out to the general public, even at the expense of ridicule, insanity claims, or claims of hidden agendas or motives, etc.

He is, as I mentioned in my post last night, a "door opener" as have
been all the military men and women, astronauts, NASA officials,
NSA staff, and numerous others who have preceded him, and whose names he mentions in the video and print text.

He is an older gentleman, retiring (ed) as a state official, and I am guessing that he follows the philosophy that "the truth shall set you free" as one of his reasons. I have never met the man, but would still shake his hand, regardless of the outcome either way, of his "vetting" so to speak, if I ever have that opportunity, and just say "thank you" for trying to resolve this long standing issue.

His graciousness in attributing courage to the following countries is also aplaudable in my opinion. For this mystery to ever to be resolved, will require the cooperation of not only the United States, but of many countries.

From his video:

"I would also like to thank the countries of France, Brazil, Britain, Russia, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, New Zealand , our neighbor to the North - Canada, Uruguay, and Australia, for also opening their files to the citizens of their countries, and allowing them access to information that is so very important to the evolution of humanity."

Who knows how many more individuals from any of the countries above or others not specified, will decide to also disclose information they may possess as a result of one man's courage?

After watching the video a few times last night, the thought came to me from a scene in the movie "National Treasure" where Riley (Jason Bartha) is seen crying by Abigail (Diane Kruger) and asks him what's wrong? He points up towards a newly discovered exit (they were trapped underground) and says something along the line of "Look, we have stairs"..........

One thing I look forward too is that many of the people who were around during those early days of the UFO frenzy are in the waning days of their lives. This makes it probable that there could possibly be many more people willing to come forward to clear their conscious prior to their death.

I believe this gentleman is one such person. When one reaches a point when they no longer fear retribution it allows them to release the secrets they've held onto for so long.

Although this is terrific from the prospect of another official who believes we are not alone, this can't be taken as explicit proof. This is simply his recollection and his testimony. I am glad he came forward though. Hopefully, more will follow his example.

For those of you keeping score at home, the defense of McElroy's claims has amounted to...

-- skeptics are bad.

-- wait and see, there might be more information.

-- appeal-to-authority.

-- negative proof fallacies

-- skeptics are bad.

-- he's just getting something off his chest, no need to think any deeper.

-- appeal to motive

-- skeptics are bad.

Oh come on. Thats not exactly gaping holes, is it? Its just a lack of information, which i hope he will answer. And yeti has posted nothing of interest to be honest. So, what it comes down to is this. We have this man, who has briefly spoken about a document he saw. So, i hope he gives out more information soon. If not, then i will lose interest very quickly, but its only been 4 days for gods sake!

Believers.

Don't let your mind be polluted by the evil skeptics.

Grab hold of that wild claim and proclaim it to be FACT!

Proclaimed facts are elevated to a level undeniable by those evil skeptics.

Demand that those who ask questions be demeaned as uneducated fools.

Above all, keep repeating:

Disclosure is coming.

Disclosure is coming.

Disclosure is coming.

It's come to a point on ATS that there are two camps, the Ultra believers and the Ultra Skepics, both sides believe it is their right to prove or dismiss no matter what. There's no middle ground, they will go to great lengths to make a point as to how they are right and it's their job to rubbish or praise no matter what.

Can I just say there is no such jobs here on ATS, there are no professionally paid believers nor paid skeptics who must scan threads and prove or disprove them as a matter of fact (or lack of it).

If you feel that as a skeptic you must pull apart every story using basic school yard tactics then just as if you are the believer who will believe regardless then you are wasting your own time.

If you have no middle ground then you are not reasonable and hence unreliable as what you feel you are...
