As of this moment Gordon Brown is going to see the Queen of Britain to hand over his resignation which is effective immediately.

David Cameron waits in Whitehall, ready to see the Queen after Gordon Brown to form new UK Parliament.

William Hauge leaves Liberal Democrate meeting tight lipped about doing a Con - Dem coalition.

He leaves talks to the chanting of ''TORYS SUCK."

I am not a Labour supporter however I think his farewell speech was very good and sincere. Good luck to him. Now the fun begins with the con-dem party

brown gave a sincere, honest and emotional speech, some labour activities will miss him. Cameron will mess up, he is not a leader his a laugh. I find it strange how they quickly decided to get brown out when he said he was going to leave in september.Dose anyone know the background of cameron? as in any interesting things

They believe that David Cameron will be in Buckingham palace by 8.30pm (45 mins away) to ask the Queen if he can form a new Goverment.

BBC News speculates that Cameron may be prime minister and Clegg ''may'' be deputy.
Although thats just speculation and not a lot is Known because this is Breaking News.

Nice move by the Scot - leaves DC with no viable alternative - accept the Lib-Dem deal or be the shortest PM EVER

One of the sneakiest moves I have ever seen in Paliamentary history (and that includes some of the things Disraeli did!)

Clegg as Deputy PM?

Interesting move.

I wonder how much power he will have as Minister without Portfolio?

I am just glad the labour years are over, its been a terrible 13 years for me personally, with bogus nanny state rubbish and they get everything wrong, perving into your life.

F off to blair and mandelson, and i do not really care about who is in as long as labour got out.

I've heard his position may be home secretary?

We'll have to wait and see I guess.

An ignominious parting as well - out of the Palace and straight into the rush our traffic jams - no police escort once you quit!

Now he has gone that's going to force a by-election as well - that might be fun to watch.

Interesting side fact - DC will be the youngest Prime Minister of the UK since the 1800s!

Remmember, they havnt said it'll be a coalition yet.

So David Cameron may try to form a minority goverment.
But this is breaking news, and not 100% clear.

But we will have a new Prime Minister by the end of the day. (or tomorrow at the latest!!)

Browns resignation speech was quite good - about the only thing he's ever done right IMHO.

Waiting on Cameron. Will be an interesting night in UK politics. Looks like we may have some historic decisions coming up.

The Tories back at Number 10 - just when you thought things couldn't get any worse, they just did.

Why?

The man who was Prime Minister (Brown) was the Chancellor of the Exchequer while the world and country was going bust and he did nothing about it - people tend to forget that.

So how is Cameron going to top that?

He's not Thatcher. I think the Tories learned from that one.

Shooting the guy down before he's started is very....American....if I may be so bold.

Got to give him a chance

I agree... I actually thought he was dignified and delivered his speech very well.
I almost felt a little bad for him.

This is a sad day for British politics, with all the big business backing Webcameron got, it was obvious the elites had picked him to take over....

The rich get richer/the poor get squashed this is the tories definition of "governing in the national interest". Its all going to get a bit 80s from here on in.........
