There has been EQ activity at Katla and Bardabunga. Katla is Eyjafjallajokull's bigger cousin, while Bardabunga is Katla's even bigger, bigger brother.

Iceland EQ links for you all:

Those are awesome links to track this stuff.

So now, predictions on when a full fledged eruption will happen?

Would you connect things like this to the whole planet X / niribu thing, the timewave thing, the web chatter thing, the haarp thing, the biblical end times thing or simply a natural occurrance?

It just seems like a whole heck of a lot (haiti earthquake, us flooding, oil spill, the eruption of eijeiejlksiejflkidshj;dlij;dlijsadlif;lasdn or however it is spelled, the massive economic crashes and the fact that I can't find my car keys) is happening VERY QUICKLY and all at once this year!

Is this natural or something more sinister?

There was just a 4.0 Earthquake in the northern part of Ireland near an underwater volcano Tjörnes:

en.vedur.is...
(the stars at the top of the screen are 3.0 or bigger. you can click on the table on that page to see the actual sizes.

Not much is known about this area or volcano:

I have been tracking Earth Science's for quite some time, but I also enjoy studying the history of Mother Earth's wrath. Personally, I think humanity has been pretty darn lucky these last several thousand years.

The planet is poised to really ramp up activity, but we have to remember that humanity is young, relative to the age of this planet. We as humans have not seen Mother Earth very angry yet...

I say yet, because I do think that we are going to be seeing a whole lot more natural disasters. Europe will be jacked up badly if a few more Iceland volcanoes erupt, or if the ones in Italy go. So many areas of the world are long overdue for major volcanic and EQ activity.

Here is another useful link for all of you, it helps to put global issues into perspective:

hisz.rsoe.hu...

It would be cool if there are aliens, Planet X, Biblical prophecy, or what else floats your boat. The Earth is getting more active, and it will eventually be so strong as to cause a paradigm shift, as our Global Society is not used to respecting the planet, and for that matter, where we live. I would not want to live anywhere on the Ring of Fire, especially California, Oregon, and Washington (anywhere between the San Andreas and the Juan de Fuca plate). At the same time, I would not want to be living in Europe right now either, or the Gulf Coast.

We should have learned the historical lesson of Mt. Vesuvius: DUH! DO not live near anything that blows up or shakes real bad!

They just downgraded the 4.0 to a 3.4. But the aftershocks keep happening anyway...or are they foreshocks?

They could be the precurser to something bigger and nastier!

What do you think we are looking at here?

So again I pose the question (now that an eruption is looking like it is certain)...

Would you connect things like this to the whole planet X / niribu thing, the timewave thing, the web chatter thing, the haarp thing, the biblical end times thing or simply a natural occurrance?

The control mechanism for whatever releases the destruction of society does not matter to me in anyway.

The issues right now are: The volcanoes of Iceland, the volcanoes of the Ring of Fire, the EQ's in New Zealand and California, the volcanoes of Italy, the OIL spill, Yellowstone, the European finacial crisis, possible wars in the Middle East and with North and South Korea, and about 100 other things.

I don't care what pushes us over the edge, I care about being ready for whatever does happen.

In my opinion, humanity is closer than ever to self destruction. It seems like we are possibly days away from something huge happening somewhere.

Here is some advice:

-Be observant. Watch and listen.

-If you do not have access to private land with a good water source..find one. Casually ask around work if anyone has a good place to go camping with water. Don't sound the alarm, but find a safe place and make a plan.

-When everything starts crumbling, get out! Don't be like the family in the Ammytville Horror Film....get out!

-Grab a bed sheet and grab all of your food in your house. Grab another sheet and grab warm and cold weather clothing. Grab any type of weapon in your house...and get out.

I hope that nothing happens, as I have some huge sales commission checks coming in over the next few weeks.

What I do, is get up early every morning and check on the pulse of the planet: USGS, Volcano Sites, Space Weather, Business sites, and News Sites, and of course, ATS. Then, knowing that I know how to get out of my town and where to go, I attack everyday like nothing is wrong and that world is a great place (obviously self-hypnosis). Make lots of deals and play with my kids. At night, I check everything again.

Feeling confident in these times is the best thing possible.

But to answer your question, I think that there are many people right now that KNOW that something is coming. Depending on their personal environment, they will think that it is Biblical end times, or aliens, or world government conspiracy, or something else. The important thing to understand is that people around the world are all waking up everyday to this feeling that something is about to happen, and when you add in everything that is happening in the news, it creates PANIC.

I think that human society is about to hit the wall. My job as a father is to protect my children. In order to do that, I have to kick serious butt in this economy in order to make as much money as possible in case nothing does happen. But I also have to keep a close eye on everything else, in case I have to defend my kids from the wrath of Mother Earth.

Maybe it is aliens, or Planet X, or World Government, or Biblical end times. Maybe it is the planet simply entering into a natural period of extreme destruction. Maybe nothing will happen.

Today, there was a minor earthquake under almost every single volcano in Iceland: en.vedur.is...

Today, there is a 40% chance of a strong geomagnetic activity (which might trigger more strong EQ activity: spaceweather.com...

Today, there is still strong EQ activity in Southern California: earthquake.usgs.gov...

Today, the Oil Spill is in the Gulf Current and hitting the sores in Covington, LA: (any news link)

Today, right now (10:15 EST), the Dow is down over 200 points: (any news link)

Today, I am going to kick serious booty and close some awesome deals and also make my kids smile by playing with them.

Tomorrow....hmmm...tomorrow....well....at least I am watching for it, and I am ready. Good luck everyone. And sorry for my very long ramble.

New swarm activity in the Eyjafjallajokull region with a total of 28 EQ's as of 10:48 EST, with a couple of those now being under Katla. This link takes you to the map showing the swarm, and towards the top there is a tab that lets you look at the table list of EQ's showing more information like depth and intensity.

To date, those quakes on the Katla caldera are the most I have seen. Scary.. Hope she doesn't waken.. That would be bad.

With the EU in financial troubles, add on to that, no airlines taking off... zero cash coming in via taxes etc...

Iceland's volcano's may yet again cause a historic event in the EU.

In history when the current volcano erupts almost always Katla erupts.

Now you can call the geologists alarmist, but I will take their word over yours.

Additionally other volcanoes there are beginning to stir and the whole
system might go active per this report.

Multiple Icelandic volcanoes beginning to stir

The information linking Katla to the current one was in the links
provide by the OP, but that would require reading and its a lot
easier to just shoot from the hip with a quick response.

"In the past 1,000 years, all three known eruptions of Eyjafjallajökull have triggered subsequent Katla eruptions.[14] Following the 2010 eruptions, on 20 April 2010 Icelandic President Ólafur Grímsson said "the time for Katla to erupt is coming close ... we [Iceland] have prepared ... it is high time for European governments and airline authorities all over the world to start planning for the eventual Katla eruption"[15]."

Here is the LINK TO THE SITE IN REAL TIME SHOWING THE ICELANDIC QUAKES!

Looks like the earth could be in for a really big boom!

Could this be why they are calling up National Guard all over the United States???

Ok, now I am not good at reading these earthquake maps.

Can any of you tell me if these types of swarms are normal under a dormant volcano?

Sorry my friend but your map is wrong. The area you are showing as Katla is next to Katla and is actually Eyjafjallajokull. Yes there have been some quakes there today, but they are all minor and the output of the volcano is reduced.

The area you have marked as Eyja is actually Grimsnes

Grímsnes is a relatively small volcanic system located SE of Thingvallavatn lake. The Grímsnes volcanic system is displaced about 15-20 km to the east of the other en echelon group of volcanic fields of the Western Volcanic Zone extending across the Reykjanes Peninsula. Grímsnes lava flows cover 54 sq km and were erupted from a group of 11 fissures that produced a series of NE-SW-trending crater rows. The eruptions of the basaltic Grímsnes lavas were considered to have been restricted to a relatively short interval between about 6500 and 5500 years ago, but later work showed that some of the lava flows were radiocarbon dated at between about 7400 and 8900 years ago.

In a nutshell no, but you really should not consider any volcano in Iceland dormant.

Iceland sits on a magma plume larger tha Yellowstone, but don't get alarmed at that. Iceland does not have a single caldera like Yellowstone, it is make up of many caldera, and eruptions tend to be fissure eruptions. These can be very long term and do much damage but are not all of the explosive type. Look at Hawaii and you can draw a parallel, but Iceland's potential is much larger that Hawaii if historical records are to be believed.

Katla will erupt for sure, but probably not for a few months or even a year, and in my humble opinion we are not about to go boom yet!

So Katla tremors are normal and to be expected then?

At what point (other than the obvious really big explosion) do we say "it's gonna blow soon" and start making preparations / evacuations?
