The last few weeks, really the last month or so, I've found myself visiting and posting much less than I used to. Often times I go through swings were I need a break from all the madness and I do. Now, however,I'm considering hanging up my ATS cleats altogether.

I'm just tired of arguing. I'm tired of endlessly repeating myself. I'm tired of arguing with the same people over and over again. I'm tired of being accused of having an agenda. I'm tired of being accused of pretty much every political leaning.

But most of all, I'm tired of politics.

Politics was not something I used to follow. Soon after I found out my wife was pregnant with our first child, the entire bank bailout fiasco happened. That's when I started to worry. I went from not caring about anything to probably caring too much over things I can't really control. Anyway, I began my journey into learning TOO MUCH.

I've gone from posting countless threads about Obama being a Socialist...threads being highly critical of false allegations ABOUT Obama...countless threads on how we have strayed from the Constitution.... threads supporting Ron Paul and auditing the Fed....countless threads exposing our debt... threads exposing corporate and special interest corruption in our government....threads exposing corrupted politicians....threads exposing George Soros.....threads defending the attacks on Palin's family but being highly critically of her intelligence....threads loaded with Glen Beck videos both supporting and being critical of what he has said (with whom I helped make popular on ATS)

...threads exposing bank fraud...threads showing wealth disparity...threads against taxes....threads exposing corporate influence on HCR....threads exposing Obama CUTTING DEALS with big pharma and health insurance companies...threads comparing Obama to Bush...threads showing Obama's link to the financial industry...threads for raising tariffs....threads exposing corporate influence in our media....threads defending gun rights....threads defending the first amendment and being critical of how it can be ABUSED....threads for defending our borders....threads for defending and criticizing our military....threads that are fully anti-war....threads that were PRO and ANTI government...threads both supporting and criticizing the tea party movement...ETC.

Lately, I just don't understand the need to argue/discuss what is happening anymore. What is the point of arguing/debating with an endless number of countless strangers....most of whom don't care of anything you have to state and are only looking for a way to attack your words? Do I really need to get myself riled up over someone not believing me or not thinking I'm legitimate in my concerns?

I've been critical of pretty much everything. I've looked at all sides of the arguments. I've tried to understand other people's point of views.

--------

I think most of us can agree that the world is going to hell. The world is drowning in debt...the governments are corrupt...the banks are practicing extreme fraud...the wars will never end...the environment continues to deteriorate....our enemies continue to be emboldened....the poor continue to get poorer...the rich get richer....

And even now...for as bad as it has become...WE STILL CAN'T AGREE or come to a consensus on most issues.

So what's the point? Why waste time any longer?

I'm just tired of it. I will miss the friendships I have made here. There are plenty of great Free-thinkers on this website....no matter if I agree with them or not.

I'm sure I will miss it....and I might prowl around every once in awhile to see what is happening in the news....but it's probably time for me to retire from posting. I've lost far too much sleep the last year and have given myself too much unneeded stress.

Let's hope better days are ahead.....and best of luck to all of you.

The point is not to argue, but to spread your own story around a little bit. You are not here to prove anything. The only thing you can do is guide. That being said there are a lot of people that will try to talk you down. But what is the point if you are just sharing your perspective? Thats what ATS is and thats why I come here for, other peoples perspectives, be it a valid arguement or not I am a teacher and I make mistakes also but that is also part of my teaching style. I dont care what anybody thinks. I can speak my mind here and anywhere else and I dont care if someone thinks whatever they might think and if they do I welcome the confrontation wether its over the internet or person to person, I dont care.

Why get bent out of shape?

ATS can be a total waste of energy and at times it is. But there are people on ATS who have like minds and thats what its all about and thats why we are all here.

Buddy, I know the feeling.

It seems to be a normal evolution of one's relationship to politics on ATS, and to tell you the truth I may have made all but a few dozen political posts since I wrote that ... and my sanity and happiness have slightly improved as a result.

There's sooo much more to share and learn within and from the ATS community though than talking politics.

Hope to see you around.

Right...but often it ends up in arguments. For better or worse, I have shared a ton of information here. Some things I have been wrong on, some not....but almost always it has been legitimate information.

That being said there are a lot of people that will try to talk you down. But what is the point if you are just sharing your perspective?

I don't know how people don't get tired of all of it. The world is going to crap....I don't think we can stop it...but then again...what is me posting here going to change?

I'd like to think I've changed a mind or two....or maybe opened up someone to a new line of thinking...but I really don't know.

It's just tiresome. I've put much of my life up on this website. I've not made a secret of who I am...which is really a nobody. Just a regular schmuck like everyone else.

ATS can be a total waste of energy and at times it is. But there are people on ATS who have like minds and thats what its all about and thats why we are all here.

I agree...there are some absolutely great people here. I've thought often about quitting before....but it's the friendships I made that have kept me here.

Seeing the world deteriorate and not seeing a single consensus on how to fix the problems is what bothers me the most. It's like shouting in a room full of other people shouting with everyone trying to talk over themselves.

I know how you feel. You'll be back though.
Once you climb out of the bubble there is no going back. Take a break recharge and come back when you're ready.

And maybe spend more time on the spiritual/enlightenment or whatever posts instead of the political...

I get all fired up on some thread make a few posts and then get the same tired responses and lose interest too and ask myself why do I keep doing this...

I agree. I been feeling pretty much the same way lately. Nothing changes, so what's the point? It's insane to keep revisiting the same old crud over and over again with no results. I can't change things, you can't change things, arguing with faceless strangers won't change one thing. I've decided to just accept, and deal with it all as best I can. There is no 'good fight' left here. I doubt there's a 'good fight' left anywhere. I've never cared about 'whats in it for me', but now all I care about is 'how best can I deal with how it is'.

That is eerily similar to mine.

The crazy thing about all of this though.....a simple Google search one night on the word "UFO" brought me to ATS because I was bored.

NOW LOOK AT ME!!

Cripes...what the hell happened??

I am just sick of human kind for the most part.

Politics is just a sub-category of that.

Not saying any of you guys in this thread suck or anything.

You guys/gals are the only half-decent ones left

That's why I hang out with yall...

You make me want to cry....and I mean that..

Get your head out of the sand.

You have a beautiful kid and a beautiful life.

Go with it.

Dont waste so much time here.

You have learned and done so much and you are a constitutionalist.

Therefor you know that the ony way to a true society is to recultivate hemp and bring ot back ten fold.

Only then will we talk about freedom and talk about it seriously..

I disagree.

Change "ten fold" to "billion fold".

That is more like it .

Wouldn't it be nice if we could just replace all of them with a super computer- We the People send in issues, the puter prioritizes them & figures out the best solution. Cheaper, no graft, effective, even handed solutions that harm no one.
As long as Bill Gates doesn't get to be the creator.

Well Dave thanks for letting me sharpen my tongue on your forehead way back,
I am actually glad that you and I fought so much. You have grown so much it is
nothing short of amazing, it has really assisted in my growth more than I can really represent here. Clearly you have become very independent, flexible and open minded
in the ways I strive to embody. You have been a NEOCON, CONSTITUTIONALIST, SOCIALIST, LIBERTARIAN, STATIST and a PROGRESSIVE, now that is an Awesome
Feat DAVE, you might be a good candidate for ANTICHRIST 2012!

Bad jokes aside

I think in time you will see how much you have benefited from this journey, I know
I have benefited from your journey.

take care

Sometime I wonder if even all this consparCy theory stuff is another tool of control. Keep us worried keep us disconnected ....just like the war on terror......they already have all the money and all the control....why bother going any further....they already have all the power....so is all this conspiracy stuff just another way of keeping us busy?

I think the op is right to walk...I keep wondering what brings me back the only way we
Will ever have 100 percent proof of any of this be it New world order, fem a camps,UFO,
Et,or anythingnelse we like to discuss here is by witnessing it or achieving it first hand
Anything else is just hearsay and not enough proof to make someone truly know 100 percent
So why worry and stress our selves out on a daily basis....

Good luck Op I have been giving a lot of thought of cutting out all the tech and info ...seems like the more info the more you get wrapped up in it all...and it takes time that would be better spent connecting with the ones you love.. Again best of luck op...I would star and flag but I'm not sure how....

Good talking w/ you man! No worries. Take what you've learned to the real world, teach your kid--the next generation will be shoveling a lot of our crap, but if the aware among us parent right they will learn and prosper, eventually. Anyway, it was nice to have you as a beacon of sanity and reality in the endless threads of reposted fear-mongering chain emails that are supposedly posted to help the cause of 'denying ignorance.' (Have you seen the ones where Obama is going to make gardening and sharing food illegal).

If you're ever in Madison, WI, drop me a U2U and we can get a beer or whatever....

Best,
SN

i too stressed about this endless distraction, its not about the crap rat race and mediocrity

live life to the best you know, and i mean that , get away from their rat race
go create your fantasy a reality
make the world a better place, you can create your own community your own independence, you can join with the like minded illuminated ones. reach for the stars.
try to go back in history way back and get the big picture of events, and with that try to look at today and look into the future. if done so, do what needs to be

and or those wanting marijuana, seriously it will have more negative consequences then positive.

The crux of the problem is this: At the end of the day someone wants to be right. And is this really about someone being right or wrong? Does anyone win? People lose sight of the fact that, at the end of the day, everyone on this rock has to live together. It can't be all or nothing, we all have to give up something. No one wants to give up anything.

I've found myself called everything from "liberal", "progressive", "neo-con", "bleeding heart", "enemy". I don't get it really. How can I be all these things? And why are there so many people looking for someone to be against? Perhaps these are the nastier points of human nature-the need for conflict even when it is of no benefit to anyone. I will say a lot of this is probably just flare up from the immigration debate. It will die down soon enough to be replaced by something else for people to fight over. Such is the ebb and flow of human communication-Ever screaming, Never fixing.

You people, those people who post on ATS, are the work horses of change, real change.

This is the "good fight." Try not to give up. Don’t throw in the towel. Pace yourself, and roll with the punches of life. Remember the "rope-a-dope?" Use it!

Your collective point of view is extremely powerful.

I’d venture to guess that for each individual who takes their time to post on ATS, there are a thousand worldwide who don’t, yet these thousand read what you’ve posted, and learn from it.

The world needs courageous free spirits speaking from their hearts, now more than ever.

“May the Force be with you!”

Great points. There is no point to arguing and debating about all of the intricacies of any particular problem if there is no real effort taken to developing a practical solution that one human being can implement. "Waking up" is not a solution, because it does not stop the problem from continuing.

I also made the mistake of maxing out to Ron Paul's campaign, only to find out later that he has cut deals to support all Texas republican incumbents, and that the Ron Paul 2008 presidential campaign funneled approximately 2 million dollars worth of donations through his congressional campaign into a lobbying organization known as the "Campaign for Liberty". That's not change- that's more of the same.

Best of luck focusing on things in life that you can control, I hope you find yourself living a much happier existence.
