Let's not forget this work of wonder.

J/K but seriosly, ever think that bigger is better?

They found this one washed up from a temporary river which collapsed the side of a hill during the recent flooding in TN.

You're gonna hate me but I tried to show a picture of a big monster truck. I'm sorry that you wasted time thinking what you thought. Real ancient monuments are amazing, didn't want to take away from that.

But I was trying to make a point to the size of them, that perhaps it was like our modern day syndromn of compensating for things, like big muscles, cars, genitilia, houses, etc. It's so common that sometimes I think it's a human condition, not just a cultural thing. I could care less but for most, bigger is better.

Perhaps our ancestors were the same. Just a thought.

Ancients actually only used stone because of the drywall strike in 40,000 b.c.
No but really everything was made of stone it seems, i think we have lost old knowledge somewhere along the way. Not sure we will ever get it back so i just accept it.
Sad but imho true.

i have pondered this subject for a very long time. these are the theories i've settled on so far:

1. they were made from some kind of amalgamate (like making bricks)

2. the stones themselves contain a property that allows them to be manipulated beyond the capacity of human physiology. knowledge of this property is lost or hidden away from us today

3. the stones in question have or have had in the past, a technology attached to them that we don't recognize today, primarily because we don't know every little thing, even if we think we do. it always seemed logical to me, that should a civilization advance far enough, they would learn to live in harmony with their natural surroundings by learning how to make inobtrusive, enviromentally safe constructs, that fit right into the natural backdrop of the environment.

This is an excellent thread. I've never seen most of these huge stones in
any publication before. ATS is an awesome repository of contributions from
some of the best minds on the planet.

My first thoughts while looking over the photos is that these statues and
formations were built by "people" who were giants. This would make
the mystery much clearer and logical as well.

Unfortunately though, archeologists have never un-earthed any 20 foot
tall skeletons, huge houses, bowling ball sized petrified droppings, etc..

Since there was no television to distract, I suppose normal sized people
with lots of free time on their hands could have carved and transported
these items. Perhaps slave labor was imported for these long-term
projects. -cwm

I think its about time the mainstream archelologists put their money where their mouth is and demonstrate to the rest of the world how they can move blocks over 1000ton using only materials that were supposed to be available at the time.

The Romans took obelisks from Egypt to Rome. In 37AD they took the 550 ton Lateran obelisk. It must have been one hell of a sight to see something of that scale being moved.

They had the same technology at their disposal as the Egyptians. Ropes, windlasses, manpower and beasts of burden. Oddly, I've yet to read anyone suggesting the Romans had mysterious technology, floated stones or were aided by aliens.

It is as simple as this - they used large stones because it is more efficient to move one large piece at a time than thousands of small pieces.

Of course, given you have the technology to cut them and transport them.

OBVIOUSLY they had technology to do that. We (our so called civilisation) are way behind.

yeah i have almost come to the conclusion, that we may be still in the process of discovering knowledge that had once already existed on this planet, they had to know something we didn't ... moving a 1000 ton block of stone would have been a hell of a task no matter what .... as some one else said on this thread earlier why would anybody even wanna move stones that big ... there must have been a reason for it .. something that we in this day and age just plain don't understand or are on the brink of understanding.

Imagine the implications of finding 100% beyond a doubt proof they they had tech we don't today ... the mind boggles

thanks also for the support guys

Thanks a great post, and ist obvious you have spent a lot of time pulling it together, thanks.

When we look at things today, we look at it within our known boundaries. We cannot look at things any other way, suppose we removed those boundaries, do you think that it could have at all been possible that ancient man was much greater in size than modern man? What we see as complexing to us, may have not been to them?

Imagine if they saw a 100 ton granite block, as what our modern bricklayer sees as a normal brick? There has always been lost of talk of the giants of the ancient worlds, gods like atlas, etc... maybe they truly were giants and the post reflects the remnants?

Until we know, what we don't know, we can only ever surmise what was the truth behind these ventures..... but they were very impressive to say the least...

Well put togther Op. thanks.

Great topic!
I'm a huge fan of ancient civilization-based topics, so I had to do my duty and give you some kudos for this one.
Gave me some more things to look into that I haven't seen before...
Good work on putting it together!

First of all what an amazing post. Really fascinating pics too.
Here is a link you've all probably seen before but supports my personal theory that humans (like the romans!) not aliens have lost highly developed skills to do incredible things.

www.youtube.com...

If one guy can do this after 20-30yrs then what about a group of intelligent cultured civilised people with 100-1000yrs of time on their hands and a willing or slave work force to take this guys theory a few steps further?
Definately not aliens.
If anything maybe aliens saw what we could do and what we'd be able to do given enough time and didn't want to have to share the universe with us and so knocked us down a few pegs, destroyed our tech and influenced our culture's to become self obsessed with toys and gadgets and weapons instead of continuing to develope our opening mind.
Or maybe not.

The Romans had the wheel and some cranes and pulley systems so they had some more technology then the Egyptions when they built the pyramids. But this is whats so great about this subject is that no one is really 100% sure.

SnF...This is definetly one of my favorite subjects.

nice theory
could definitely be a possibility ... i wouldn't rule that out at all considering a lot of these civilizations just seemed to disappear.

To re-phrase a homer simpson quote "If they were so smart, how come they're dead?"

I like to fantasize that ancient tech was actually a biological function that was lost in time, that the myths of magic were real and middle earth may have existed in some similar fashion.

I agree I may even use my theory to start a new thread.
If we go the believers route of alien intervention then I'm sick to be honest of hearing of alien intervention giving us tech and pointing us in new directions, repsonsible for the pyramids, atlantis etc. I'm more likely to believe that we have evolved DESPITE "their" involvment and that they are responsible as well as the NWO (what ever) of dumbing down humans, knocking us back when ever we get to or near to a hightened state and playing our races off against each other for what ever reason I can't think of at the moment without sounding like some paranoid dellusionist. THats why there will be NO DISCLOSURE because 10 minutes after it did happen somebody on ATS would figure it out and the little deal they have got going with certain dispicable elements of our human race will be bust.
Now what do you think?
