i came across this on my facebook posting and the technologies was amazing.. interaction with a digital world and how our brains and senses reacts to it was really mind boggling, i cant help to think that we are able to create a world within a world soon, just like the movie 13th Floor..

am soo going to get the camera for my xbox soon hehehehe

some write up wikipedia about project natal

Project Natal (pronounced /nəˈtæl/ nə-tal) is the code name for a "controller-free gaming and entertainment experience" by Microsoft for the Xbox 360 video game platform. Based on an add-on peripheral for the Xbox 360 console, it enables users to control and interact with the Xbox 360 without the need to touch a game controller through a natural user interface using gestures, spoken commands,[1] or presented objects and images. The project is aimed at broadening the Xbox 360's audience beyond its typical gamer base.[2]

Good Stuff,

I have been waiting for Natal now for a few years. That is the only reason why I never bought a Wii when it came out.

I would be interested what playing games such as Modern Warfare would be like, I keep thinking of the movie Gamer when I imagine it though. Imagine games such as Mortal Kombat, I can finally be Scorpion lol.

Oh geez just because xbox finally uses some tech for the gaming market does not make it good. There will be so many numerous problems it's only goin to work with stupid wii style games. SONY for life. Xbox is for retards and geeks who can't afford a true gaming experience. Hahah natal is such a joke

yupyup, it is more real life than Wii, but i guess games like mortal kombat will be a real workout hahahahaha...

but i guess it will be fun..

Don't get your hopes too high. It's not that future technology we've been waiting for or anything. Apparently they have bumped the level of technology down a few notches to make it affordable. Sure it will be great, but I just don't see it as being a killer success or anything.

What a jackass.

Good job, you sure showed everyone who doesn't own a PS3. Congrats. Wonder why that PS3 is ranked 3 in sales...

lets not turn this into a "who's a bigger fanboy" debate, each system has its bonus's.

I'm not really looking forward to natal tho, i just like twiddling my thumbs to game, if i wanted a more real life experience i would just go play paintball (i mostly play first person shooters).

I do suspect it will have many issues, hopefully they can get it worked out and bring a better gaming experience to those seeking that type of controlling method.

but the concept of the Milo demonstration shows the interaction between real life and artificial gaming life is feasible..

am not sure about the rest of the games that will come out..but the Milo demo was amazing..
dont you think so ?

I agree 100%,I've owned a PS3.And now currently own a 360.I like the 360 better,the online gaming is top-notched.

As for project natal,I think it could be a huge success,as long as its priced reasonably.

You know....I was reading somewhere about the technology involved for the motion capture on Project Natal. Apparently the inventor of this type of "3 dimensional motion capture system" tried to sell it to Nintendo first but they weren't offering what he considered enough for it. Me personally? I'd rather Microsoft utilyze the tech than Nintendo....perhaps it will go cross platform and you can hook one of these up to a PC. Could really revolutionize the Virtual Reality concept.
Just imagine if someone combined the Project Natal motion capture tech, 3-D Stereoscopic vision (Like seen in Avatar), and an online virtual world such as Second Life. Matrix here we come!

I also stumbled across a news article somewhere that stated they were already looking into applications combining "motion capture" and 3-D stereoscopic Vision. The reason they are doing this is so that they can make it seem more "depth-oriented" to whoever is viewing it. By using the sensors to track when a person walks to his left or right, the programming can then be utilized to turn the object, thus making it seem like you are actually walking around a real 3-D object.

that is precisely why i post this video, it wasnt much about whether PS3 or Wii or Xbox..it is just the platform and so happen i own a 360..but the objective and technology is available for us now to basically create a matrix type of situation or a 13th Floor scenarios..

I'm hoping that regardless of if Microsoft does cross-platform it, someone might manage to hack the code a bit and still cross-platform it. It's being marketed as an "addon" if I'm not mistaken. Meaning it will likely be of the USB connection type, since that's really the only input they could hook up to an existing XBOX. If it's USB I definitely think Microsoft should push forward in regards to Virtual Reality. Honestly, they would be stupid not to be pursuing that endeavor at this very moment. God knows what the rest of the 21st century has in store for us.

"Computer.....Load Scenario 11210"
*is amazed as the view of Earth from the surface of the moon loads up in the visor around him*

Honestly...Just this tech alone could revolutionize the internet and bring about Web 2.0/3.0 ect. Microsoft would be smart to take advantage of their technological capabilities NOW rather than waiting for another to produce to the tech to create a virtual world. All the technology is already here, someone only needs to combine them and VIOLA!

I like how they made him react to each word she says instead of 3 lines already chosen from the beginning. Feels more like endgame where you could give orders to your trops where to go and what to attack. Okej maybe some games would be fun playing with motioncapture, shooters and fighting (oh yeah Wii
) but otherwise, more talking-interactice is what I want, instead of the same ones every playthrough. Gives you the need to think more about what you say and how many different approaches there might be to one single answer!

Apparently Microsoft aren't alone.

Tיis companyl, Omek Interactive, offers "Natal-like" technology for various platform.

The demo looks very impresive.

It's good stuff indeed, but you haven't been waiting for Natal for a few years. It hasn't even been a year since Natal was first announced. Thus it's not the reason why you didn't buy Wii when it came out in 2006. Funny how our memory works, huh?
