activate w/ key codes

I just bought a new PC w/Windows XP home and it includes Office home but I can/t open Excel with the key code on the rear side of the computer any advice? I really need that Excel. If you all have W98 hang on to it. XP is so smarmy sweet it is difficult to learn. any way, any advice on how to activate my Excel? heeeeelp!!!

the code to "unlock" exel / microsoft office should NOT be on the side of the comp. but on the CD case of MICROSOFT OFFICE...

Actually Dell does put the Ms Office Key Code on the side of the computer. I would call Dell or the manufacturer and let them know of your problem.

Well, thanks for your suggestions, I guess I will contact both microsoft and HP tommorrow. I am so unhappy right now. I had to replace my system because we had a fire and the restoration people made the old one look like swiss cheese. Boy! I sure miss w98.besides I spent a lot of money having my PC guru customize the software for me. Maybe I'll consult with him first. Thanks again
