Windows Xp Speed up by 110%

Recently I found a thread in one Russian forum where they discussed how to speed up windows XP. I�m wondering if this really works.

If you really want to make Xp run faster try Tweak XP. If anyones interested u2u me and I will copy you the disc.

Well, I know, ACPI, SSE and MMX will not work, but what about extracting the hal and adding it as alternative boot method in boot.ini ?
I would do it myself though I don�t have Intel CPU.

It seems the whole secret was within ACPI function

These sites are pretty good, but you need to decide for yourself.

A format will speed up winXP. Simple. Its simple no spyware = fast computer. You don't need it translated from Russian to English to get it. After formating install adaware. I cannot stress that strongly enough, especially if have a p2p installed like mirc or kazaa.

Thanks to everyone who replied but the point of this topic was speeding up the os by disabling advanced control and power interface. I'm amazed how many people answered and offered different tweaks and tips, thanks, but everything you wrote here is well known to me. I have been interested in tuning my pc since the time when people used good old win 3.11 and ms-dos 6.22

Sorry, didn't noticed this question. Well, there was said that by disabling ACPI you can speed up you pc. Actually this will happen only if many devices use the same IRQ.
