Really does sound like a home grown terrorist.
It sounds like an attack that the IRA would try and do in the UK.

What about CCTV? Must be plenty of Camaras in Times Square.
Wouldnt be suprised if it was a disgruntled American trying to make a statement.
Guess we'll learn more when we're told..

I cannot answer to that, it seems to sort of be parked away from anything really.

I'll try to keep you guys posted on what we here in the Netherlands say. We have reporters that live in NYC so they surely will be asked to tell us what is actually happening there.

According to the Fox news link here, it says the following:

New York Gov. David Paterson released a statement calling the failed Times Square bomb scare an "act of terrorism."

Investigators removed three propane tanks, fireworks, two filled 5-gallon gasoline containers, and two clocks with batteries, electrical wire and other components from the back of the Nissan Pathfinder, Police

I also see this?

The car was parked on 45th Street, and the block was closed between Seventh and Eighth avenues as a precaution, police said.

But the cam link says 7th Avenue and Broadway? Is this a different event I am watching?

Know what would be ironic at this point???
if they somehow tries to tie this in with the illegal aliens...

I'm just saying it sure looks like someone wants to shove that agenda down Obama's throat and it wouldn't surprise me in the least if that's how it plays out...

LOL wow I am getting real confused. Based on the photo in this CNN article, this is the vehicle, and the correct location. However, the CNN article states this:

Shortly before 6 a.m. Sunday, the Pathfinder was loaded on to the back of a flatbed truck, covered with a yellow tarp and towed away

Which appears to not be the truth? As I am watching it live and it is still there?

it also says this:

The wiring around the device "was nothing that looked amateurish," Bloomberg said.

I guess I heard wrong when they said it DID look amateurish at the news conference?

Hmm, some odd discrepancies in this story, combined with what you see with your own eyes.

So it was probably just a street vendor`s items? I could see a street vendor needing propane and gas maybe, but what does he need gunpowder and clocks with wires coming out and false license plates for? Was the vendor an illegal immigrant or some fugitive? Why do they keep mentioning the veitnam veteran? Is that supposed to be some secret message to some agents hidden somewhere? This just doesn`t make sense. Unless the person was planning to do an attack within the next day or two and something unexpected happened that caused something to ignite and start smoking, so the guy immediately pulls over and gets out and catches a cab out of there. After about 10 or 15 minutes go by, the smoke is coming out wherever theres an opening and people start to notice it. But since the bomb was never fully assembled, it never went off the way it was supposed to. And the guy gets away, for now. Either that or this is some attention ploy by the government so they can always have a reason, fresh in the citizens` minds, to put up some more cameras, spend more on random wiretapping and intercepted email reading. Whats goin on in the subway though? What if there was some kind of biological weapon spread by these small explosions? A virus could spread all over the world and once the population has been reduced to "their" liking, a vaccine will be "discovered", but the catch is, the vaccine, unbeknownst to you, contains nanobots which will reprogram your brain. It would be better to die than to be a mindless slave

I also heard that when they aired the conference her in the Netherlands...
I did not read the article or watched a video where they said it was not the work of an amateur.

You sure you heard that right?

For those who missed the news conference last night here it is

This sounds suspiciously similar to the 2007 London car bombs. The MO is pretty much the same, including the use of gas cylinders.

en.wikipedia.org...

Gordon Brown had only been in power as Prime Minister for a couple of days and this did wonders for his popularity ratings.

False Flag IMO - let's wait and see what the reaction and solution will be.

In the press conference I heard it said it was amateurish.

In the CNN article I posted here: www.abovetopsecret.com...

it clearly said NOT amateurish in the printed article.

Probably a misunderstanding or editor error in CNN's part, but you would think they would try harder to get the news right on this?!

Ok, I heard it wrong or I misunderstood him, one. At 24 seconds in he says, "and the wiring was..nothing.. that looked amateurish. I think is a nice way to phrase it."

So I heard wrong, or took it wrong. Thanks for posting the video of that!

Thank you for posting this video.

What upsets me is when non-law enforcement people talk about LE things. The good mayor should not have said: We don't know who did this or why....

Something like: We are tracking every lead and reviewing numerous investigative leads which we feel confident will resulg in the arrest of anyone invovled in this fail bombing attempt. We have a treasure trove of info from the vehicle since it was taken into oustody before the device detonated. and go from there.

I did find it odd he reference Pennsylvania as the place to get commercial grade fireworks. Other states offer them also. Maybe a slip f evidence on his part, maybe just a gereralization.

That's ok, we on most of these kind of occasions want to hear something that does not fit.

you and I both know that was an initial press release to allay fears and make John Q think everything is under control.
the real work is only now beginning and it could take days weeks or months to get any real answers...

for all we know this rig could have belonged to a hot dog/fireworks vendor who had an accident... guess I'll have to look elsewhere for my chill-dog with extra onions...I'd like a side of sky rockets to go with that please...

Riiiight...as if there haven't been enough Muslim extremists causing this sort of racket that you have to blame what the DHS calls "rightwing extremists".....

BTW, I fear Communism since I was born in a Communist regime and lived there, and according to Janet Napolitano if you fear Communism you can be a "possible terrorist"... what a stupid, and ignorant witch...

I'm pretty sure there was already a post from TrainDispatcher about this "event". I kinda feel like he was robbed out of stars and flags by whoever the OP is here but I guess that's the admins decisions. Anyway I really have a feeling the media is going to have a frenzy over this and leaves the possiblity open to blame any group they would like in America as they see fit (Most likely some type of right wing group) Should be interesting to see how they spin this as they do with anything that happens without the approval of the CIA or president so it will fit there agenda.

First report of this incident on ATS

I wonder how long before they blame this on "right wing extremists" angry about either Obowma, illegal immigration, or socialism?

I would be shocked if they dident call this an attack by the evil racist bitter White men. This is just too good of an opportunity to pass up, Obama and Rahm are drooling over the prospect of pinning this on the Tea Party movement.

Times Square car bomb was adjacent to the Viacom building which makes South Park cartoon. Recently had Mohammed storyline. Interesting.
