Genghis Khan conquered more land than Alexander and Holy Roman Empire combined together.

He invited a Taoist monk, one of the 7 famous Taoist Immortal, Chang Chun to his court.
Genghis Khan letter of invitation showed a philosophical side that most people might not have known.

Read his letter (written as Chinghis Khan) as well as the account of that meeting.

Thanks for posting this thread. I've read a lot about Khan and simply assumed his intelligence. Your link has added a new dimension to my understanding of him...

I hadn't realised that printing presses were in use during the Mongol Empire. Neither was I was aware of contemporary references to Khan by well-known figures in history...Excerpts from “Genghis Khan & the Making of the Modern World” by Jack Weatherford.

Every now and then, an ATS Thread opens my eyes and generates a new interest...this is one of them. Thanks

Those are interesting links that you gave. It is fascinating to read the bad mouthing of one of the greatest man in our known history.

Wikipedia en.wikipedia.org... gave a more balanced portrait of Genghis Khan. He could not get to do all that he did if he was just a good fighter and general.

The empire that he created at its peak was bigger than 3 of the largest empires combined, Alexander, the Holy Roman Empire and the British Empire.

I knew of his meeting with Chang Chun but I did not know his letter was preserved. That facet of Genghis Khan as a philosopher gave me a nice surprise when I read that recently. I am happy that pleased you too.

Warmest regards
