Amazing ground based photo of Space Shuttle Discovery in orbit

Those who know me know I love these kind of images, and love to share them with ATS too!



The above image was taken by Theirry Legault, a French astrophotographer.

Details of equipment:

The instrument is a Meade ACF 10” telescope with Lumenera Skynyx L2-2 monochrome video camera (12-bit fits), focal length 4500mm. The mount is a Takahashi EM-400 specially modified to be controlled by joystick

The larger image is most likely taken from the ISS and is being used as a comparison to the smaller insert which was taken from the ground.

Thanks for the post, really awesome that an "amateur" photographer can look up and snap a picture of the Discovery shuttle so many miles above the Earth...makes you feel, well, really small.

Thanks for the replies guys, for those who didn't know, Theirry is the person who took photos of the ISS and Shuttle as it passed across the front of the sun.
