The Pentagon stated today that the Falcon HCV secret flight was a failure.
www.space.com...
The new Minotaur 4 lite carried the Falcon HCV into flight. Everything was a success until 9 minutes after the launch; contact was lost with the Falcon HCV. Now, the public finds this out four days later?! It makes me wonder what really happened to this million dollar craft.

[MOD EDIT] - Removed X-37B from title, as this is misleading. It was a different test, not the X-37B....

[edit on 26-4-2010 by Gazrok]

MOD, thank you for removing the X-37 part, I was researching reentry vehicles and got my pages mixed up. I'll edit the other parts, sorry folks.

Does that mean the craft is now just another piece of space junk circling in orbit? Or do you know if it was programmed to do certain tasks that it still may be performing--just with no communication to NASA?

Very strange.

I reckon it got taken down by that pesky volcanic ash.

I wonder what they have planned to get it back if it's this secret? I'm sure there are others who wouldn't mind getting their hands on it.

Would we have to thumb a lift from the Russians to get it back?

In one of the earlier threads, a poster said that "IF IT SUDDENLY DISAPPEARS" they think that it will mean "That it's interplanetary and was on a mission to the moon or mars".

I find this "loss of contact" (IF ITS TRUE) ; to really fit in well with the suspicions of some of the ATS members who have voiced them.

or... we don't want to talk about the mission so don't ask! We lost contact because we're not very good at making communication devices, were only the Pentagon for christ's sake!

I swear, this super-secret space launch has been the most publicized "secret" ever not kept secret

It's almost like their wanting us to know/question something about it

They didn't that they were going to get it back anyway, premonition?!

With all the threads about stuff flying around or into the Sun, it does give you pause.

Umm...this isn't the same thing...

The link is to a failure of a different test. This one took off from CA...

The X-37B took off from Florida....

Here is an additional link with a photo (I like pictures, it's much easier to see than read

PS
Do you remember the Saturday Night Live skit that involved Mike Myers with a pet monkey? He always asked his "guest" if they would pet his monkey!
It was hilarious!

Ok so is this a misunderstanding or what?

I am confused.

I'll let you guys straighten this out.

Was this the same launch or not??

Not the same launch, I provided the links for your own personal confirmations...

You won't see the X-37B mentioned at all in the first link, as it (the Minotaur 4) was a different test, launched from Vandenberg AFB in CA...

The X-37B was launched atop an Atlas 5 rocket from FL....

Oh man, I feel really stupid right now. I don't think I could pull anything out of my hat, like disclos3r, and make it go away.
Here is what the Falcon HCV is
en.wikipedia.org...
and here is the X-37B

I was researching re-usable reentry vehicles and got my pages mixed up.
(yeah right)
Sorry

Launch of secret US space ship masks even more secret launch of new weapon

from UK's Times Online...

With all the focus on the launch of the secret X37B, another space launch by a Minotaur IV rocket from Vandenberg Air Force base in California received less attention.

It was carrying the prototype of a new weapon that can hit any target around the world in less than an hour.

The Prompt Global Strike is designed as the conventional weapon of the future. It could hit Osama bin Laden’s cave, an Iranian nuclear site or a North Korean missile with a huge conventional warhead.

According to this source, there were two secretive, militarily-relevant rockets launched from American soil last week.

Stay tuned.

No problem, happens to all of us...

I just knew the X-37B was atop an Atlas, so when I read Minotaur in the article, I knew something was up, so did some more checking...

An easy mistake...but one leading to another question....

This test (from CA) was admitted to being a weapons platform test...and so soon with the X-37B? Now THAT is ripe for conspiracy!

U.S.A.F Global Strike Command-newly formed: (all coming together now)

Look into this new thread for some outstanding insight into what appears to be happening here.

And let me pose a touchy question, which will undoubtedly ruffle some tails: is the prospect of the United States asserting dominance from the upper limits of the atmosphere, and beyond, a BAD thing?

Discuss!

Not really, but violating our treaties could be deemed as a bad thing...if we are doing so...

That was my first thought, it was successful, the X-37B vaporized it with a laser.
