Stephen Hawking has given an interview to the Times in which 'he has suggested that extraterrestrials are almost certain to exist but that instead of seeking them out, humanity should be doing all that it can to avoid any contact.' This is a different view, since our scientists and dreamers alike are looking for alien contact. SETI for example has many satellites devoted to the search, NASA is scanning planets for life...but maybe our own curiosity and exploration could spell our our doom. Though It think it would be impossible to "hide" from advanced forces.

I know I have seen this before ..... No civilization that was visited by another more evolved (errr technically superior) has ended well for the land owners.

just look at past history for a lesson in what happens. Earth will be no different.
