Mysterious desert lines long-standing anomaly solved!

www.archaeologydaily.com

Were they made by some weird kind of fault? Ancient astronauts?

A new study of 16 of what are called desert kites in the eastern Sinai Desert confirms what many researchers have long suspected: The walls form large funnels to direct gazelle and other large game animals into killing pits. What's more, the kites are between 2,300 and 2,400-years-old, were abandoned about 2,200 years ago and are just the right size to have worked on local gazelles and other hooved game.

I know that none of the "ancient astronauts" cultists will take this at all into consideration the next time they look to unusual formations in deserts as proof that sometimes anomalies do get resolved, but for the rest of us with a few neurons still firing, just remember that not all mysteries stay mysteries forever.

Cultists?... neurons still firing?... you sure pinned your opinion about others beliefs to the mast right off the bat.

Being someone with a belief (mailable belief) in the ancient astronaut idea of human origin its funny that you make out that any ancient mysterious structure or anomaly that gets a valid reason for its existence finally suddenly makes all others also easily explainable and those that believed in any thing else are nuts.

Id never heard of these structures before now and its neat to read about this, and its good they've found a viable explanation for them that makes complete sense, and i agree with their conclusion completely (not that it matters what I think). And thanks for bringing them to light for these of us who hadn't heard of them before,

Im just perplexed by your bizarre tar, feather and brush remarks, if your gonna post something present it in a neutral light rather than as an obvious jab at someones opinions you laugh at.

Even so you sure havent knocked my belief, I still believe its very reasonable given alot of the odd out of place evidence people have dug up over the years that man kinds either an accidental or deliberate placement by either extra solar man kind themselves or someone/thing else. One mystery solved doesn't solve the countless others, but it does make that list shorter in the long run

I was reading about these recently, its odd they arn't tall enough to stop gazelles from jumping them.

I don't know how gazelles think, but I'm pretty sure if they are anything like deer in the US, they would just jump over the wall if they are being chased.

I would be more inclined to believe they were used to funnel wild sheep like the Mouflon.

I wonder if the kites have become covered with sand and are slowly being buried, how deep to those kites go?

I think that they weren't so much being chased as urged into the general area. They wouldn't be spooked by the people ushering them, because the people ushering them would just be following kind of slowly; I'll bet the gazelles ran away kind of like squirrels do, a little bit at a time, never realizing that there was a much better path that would require a little extra work.

So they "solved" a mystery by making up a new theory?

I don't care either way, it's just disgusting as usual to see people so embattled in an ideological debate that logic and reason are always the first casualties.

A very good find!

I have cats and notice this in a smaller scale on my lawn. I thought it was odd they appeared to follow the same paths to walk the yard so much, the grass wears down in a pattern of one big triangle and a few crosses....naturally. These are the paths the animals picked to go themselves.

Now when the paths, (like Nasca lines) start to form recognizable creatures and spell things, we should perk up.

I'm gonna state this right now and be done with it. These obviously have been mixed up with the Nazca Lines in Peru. Which as far as anyone has bee nable to tell were created to to be seen from the air, or even created in the air. So frankly your hateful bashing attitude toward open-minded indivduals is part of the reason I feel like not coming here anymore. People have gotten so Hostile towards one another. Apparently now on ATS its the cool thing to not pay attention to the thread presented and to make it ones personal goal on ATS to make others feel like less of a human being.

Good job of pointing out how few neurons are still firing in your own head.

Peace be with you.

i agree with the others,
All you have achieved with this thread is to reveal your own blinding biased denial based ignorance, by trying to lump together hearding/hunting constructs from egypt, and claim they have any relation whatsoever to the nazca lines from peru, is just pure ignorance, i noticed the article also made the mistake of mentioning ancient astronauts, and now we see why the sheep always go the wrong way
