THE aliens are out there and Earth had better watch out, at least according to Stephen Hawking. He has suggested that extraterrestrials are almost certain to exist — but that instead of seeking them out, humanity should be doing all that it can to avoid any contact.
The suggestions come in a new documentary series in which Hawking, one of the world’s leading scientists, will set out his latest thinking on some of the universe’s greatest mysteries.
He suggests that aliens might simply raid Earth for its resources and then move on: “We only have to look at ourselves to see how intelligent life might develop into something we wouldn’t want to meet. I imagine they might exist in massive ships, having used up all the resources from their home planet. Such advanced aliens would perhaps become nomads, looking to conquer and colonise whatever planets they can reach.”
He concludes that trying to make contact with alien races is “a little too risky”. He said: “If aliens ever visit us, I think the outcome would be much as when Christopher Columbus first landed in America, which didn’t turn out very well for the Native Americans.”

I doubt that Hawking is trying to instill fear.
This appears to me to simply be his analysis of a possible event. He raises a very good point about the human explorers in our past. The explorers led to the formation of colonies. The colonists, not just in America but in most places in the world, conquered, and in many case enslaved the native populations. If that is our heritage, why should we automatically trust that other beings would be more benificent toward us, should we encounter them on a large scale?

There is a chance he's right. Aliens might not be all friendly and loving.
It's 50/50. Are they of peace or war?

i completely agree with hawking, we need only look at how we act. why would aliens be out and about looking? because they destroyed there world much like we are doing, why would they raid us? because were just aliens to them, inferior beings... who cares, theyre not "pledian" so who cares... that remind you of anything? yeah, its a totally plausable theory..
