One question is; When will devices like this reach the point of being able to compete for the business now offered by electric companies for supplying power to homes and businesses?

Or, would electricity distributors consider using scaled up machines like these as one of their sources of electricity used for power distribution to their customers?

All the best solar patents which could change the world were bought by oil companies from their inventors, and i wouldn't be surprised to find all these other alternative energy methods are too.

That's the real problem. Someone can display proof of concept, but run in to trouble manufacturing and distributing it because the methods are owned by other people simply to keep them from being used.

Excellent find.

Magnetic devices like these continue to demonstrate that the laws of physics or at least our narrow understanding of them must eventually evolve.

Having said that RIP Nicola Tesla et al....

Unless they are giving these machines away, the energy isn't "free".

The basic question about this technology is how long before the magnets inside begin to lose their "strength"?

If you could power a house with a $5000 magnetic generator for say, 5 years, that's a monthly energy bill of $83/month (US dollars). That's far from free, and if your current electricity bill from the utility company is $75/month, then this magnet machine is actually more expensive.

However, if this machine lasted for 10 years, then your monthly bill drops to $42/month, which would be much nicer, but again, it isn't free.

Even so, even with all the money you would save in that scenario, you would have to turn right around and buy a whole new set of magnets which would again cost you thousands of dollars, and the whole recoup the costs scenario starts over.

Fordrew, you have misunderstood. The person posting the pic of the solar panel was taking a cheap shot at the OP, not agreeing with them! I posted the pic of the windmill to take a cheap shot at the person with the solar panel pic.

No one is suggesting that solar panels are free to build. The term "free energy" is used in reference to a device which draws energy from an open system, ie its environment. Hence after the initial setup cost, the energy produced is free.

I do however understand what you and others are saying about the energy required to produce the magnets in the first place and whether this will supercede the energy output of the device over its lifetime.
The fact is we still just don't fundamentally understand magnetism at a core level. We like to pretend we do, but we don't. Perhaps this motor is an open system drawing energy from the "zero point field" via the magnets.

I guess only rigorous testing over time will determine whether the motor is a closed system and therefore you will be correct, as thermodynamics can't be broken; or an open system which is drawing energy from a source other than that instilled in the magnets via their production.

Until we fully understand magnetic force we cannot state with 100% certainty that this is a closed system.

But i'm just a layman, so anyone, feel free to explain to me how a force acts over a distance if you disagree with me.

Actually, I know the guy who made this video and he was very much impressed with what he saw that day. Me too for that matter because I never saw a working concept before.

Problem with this thing though, is that the inventor only took part of the machine apart and nobody (except for him) seems to know exactly how this thing works.

If the technology is not completely shared and reproduced by somebody else, it is just a very complicated and expensive fan.

Don't solar panels after production costs produce more energy than it took to create in their lifetime?

The theory of electricity and magnetism was never right on the total energy calculation on the charged capacitor. See the Youtube video "Physics of Free Energy Device"

It is time to revolutionize the world. It's long overdue.

That's a nice battery operated fan that guy has there.

By the way guys, as for that over unity stuff some of you are going on about - if that were possible it would mean that our entire understanding of the universe is completely wrong. Not just a little off, but completely absolutely, back to the drawing board wrong.

Now I know a lot of you will reply saying "hey maaan, of course you scientists have got things wrong" and I accept that our model of the way the universe needs a lot of improvement, but it's going to take a lot more than a desk fan to throw away everything I know and replace it with who knows what? Does this guy even have any coherent theories?

I would think so. But it isn't the same as "free" energy as the solar panel is getting the energy from the sun and converting it to electricity. Much like the turbines of a dam convert the kinetic energy of the elevated water (elevated by the sun). Without the source (the sun) they would no longer work. Free energy doesn't need a source to keep producing.

Well S & F for effort, looks like a nicely engineered magnetic motor,
I would have to see it for myself to believe it! i have seen so many
people try and fail to make these free energy machines yet i like
the look of this one.

But i dont buy into it that there is NO input of electricity to turn
this device, and what happens when you couple it up to a generator?
once load is applied to it then it will just stop so what is this an over
engineered fan?

As for searl, never been a fan, all he seems to have made is an electric
motor that is far more complex than needed to be, a hoax.

i would have to see this stripped down and rebuilt with my own eyes
before i got to exited

My friend and I are building one of these, we are not going public with it as its rather pointless, but our goal is to make enough to power a house or a restaurant.

I wished it were true, but I suspect there is a 12V battery in the device, otherwise the inventor would have disassembled everything. I also think that a mosquito could have stopped the blades from turning ...

When you present a device like this you NEED to explain how it works! I suspect a hoax.

The so called 'laws' of physics are a human invention, and are consequently fallible..as we can see by machines such as this.

Fallible human ideas and ideas labeled as laws, constrict and slow progress, so breaking them or otherwise highlighting their short comings is always going to be a good thing.

Solar is great, up to a point...that point is when the sun sets..

Star and flag OP, thank you for sharing this with us all.

The Dutch science community are world renown for their rigorous testing and ruthless treatment of hoaxers and charlatans.

To give this guy the time of day, speaks volumes about this particular devices potential.

He may have actually cracked it.

Very excited.

You obviously didn't watch he video properly.

At one point a guy places a thick glass bottle against the rotating blades, and the effect was pronounced.

Watch it again, properly next time, and then see if you still think 'a mosquito could stop the blades' as you put it.

The air pressure was also measured, and found to be very powerful.

I'm curious can you tell me how this works when the sun goes down? What about really cloudy days?
Also when you say free are you saying it doesn't cost anything to build these panels?

Free energy doesn't need a source to keep producing

Not strictly accurate.

It's more accurate to say Free energy doesn't need a conventional energy source to keep producing.

Splitting hairs i know, but there is a difference.

Just because we nay not have a 100% grasp of where or how the energy is originating from, it doesn't mean energy isn't present. It obviously is.

Call it gravitons, quantum field, zero point, magneto-entangled or whatever name or theory becomes fashionable, it's not true that there is not an energy source.

I for one, wish you every success matey.

If you do hit upon something worthwhile, and i hope you do, please open source it, so no one need die of thirst or hunger or cold again.

If you try to make money from a discovery such as this, the big boys and girls will simply make it disappear...one way or another, and then no one will benefit.

I did a spectral analysis of the audio from the demonstration. Here is a spectrogram for ~3 minutes of the video while the machine is running. The machine slows down over the course of the demonstration by about 3.3%.

You get what you pay for. Of course it's free energy. The reason it's free is because it is so unreliable. If you want something that works when you need it and when you want it sorry but you will have to pay for it.
People years ago weren't brainwashed by political correctness. It isn't that they couldn't comprehend wind energy. It has been around for centuries it's that they were smart enough to know they needed something more reliable.
