Is Islam really a bad religion or is it portrayed that way?

hi, first of all i want no one to post their personal hatred towards muslims or islam. or any views coming from a biased point of view...

What im curious about is, is the religion itself "bad". as in non muslims should be killed, everyone else is an infidel, women should be slaves, homosexuals are evil, kill all pagans and nature worshipers, hate jews etc

OR

is the Quran always misquoted and most of the people get their views from the news?

personally i believe that bankers create artificial wars since the whole army is based on the military-industrial complex. but aside from that, do Muslims actually have a hatred against other people?

I discussed this with a muslim friend of mine, he says he is neither shia nor sunni and just believes in Islam. he said that the Clerics are "paid" by some people to spread disinformation and incite violence in youth. Theres also this discussion about the christian crusades and the old wars.

So then im thinking that the religious leaders at the top are paid off, to create this whole image of "islam being attacked", and then by showing muslims being killed would make the younger generation more violent and actually believe that is happening?

I just want some inputs.

I don't think it is bad, but it seems to be the outler for a whole lot of crazy these days...

Sorry, it really is a loving religion, but all these radical Christian fundamentalists portray it to be bad.

Muslims are wise to the NWO plan therefore a threat so they are painted as evil by the media.

I've spent alot of time in Asia working and what always gets me is that Muslims do not let the Quran get translated. Therefore 99.9% of Muslims have no idea what they are chanting. So they just blindly believe the clerics. I have questioned some of my workers over there, HOW can you pray 6 times a day and have no idea what you are praying for???

I have read the Quran and yes, there is some "kill the inidels stuff" but read the Bible..Not much difference.

Unfortunately a few radicals do something stupid and the media all of a sudden starts to go against that one religion. Islam really is a religion of peace it is just those radicals that think they know what the Qur'an is all about. They then go on spouting nonsense in the name of the Qur'an and then everyone hates Islam.

Islam actually does mean peace. Just to those who don't know.

There are MILLIONS of Christians and Jews living within Muslim countries, peacefully. If they wanted to kill all non-muslims, they sure aren't doing a very good job! And no, women aren't seen as slaves. Muslim women see American women as slaves... forced to work a job and be away from their families.

Yes, the Quran is distorted and taken out of context by ignorant people. Any verse that they say promotes violence, read the few verses before and after and you will see that it only justifies self defence.

Of course you will have a lot of ignorant people on here hating Muslims... This is an English speaking website

A friend of mine here in Canada converted to Islam solely for the purpose of getting a cushy government job. You see, he's a white male, and had absolutely no chance of getting a job in the government because of it.

The sad part is, it actually worked. True story. I don't know whether to laugh or cry...

That is almost all misinformation. First we only pray 5 times a day. Each prayer has a different name and time.
Muslims do get the Qur'an translated but it is easier to memorize in Arabic, so they usually have it in Arabic form.
Can you please give me some direct quotes showing the alleged "kill the infidels stuff"?

What you mean by "have read the Quran" is that you went on anti-Islamic websites and read their out-of-context excerpts.

here's the truth behind it all, the base of truth. it's forgiveness and not having to do works to know if one is ok with God.
the jewish don't have that. the islams don't. those groups don't know where they stand. try forgiveness, knowing that you don't have to do things to earn forgiveness or earn heaven...get me ?...sit up and take notice

How do you know what the Quran says about forgiveness? Have you read it? It is encouraged.

Sorry about the 6 instead of 5, I wasn't counting...
But the translation bit is true. Infact I knew someone who almost had the English translation tready o market in Malaysia but it was stopped by the Goverment there,,FACT!
I use to spend half my year in Malaysia so please don't tell me what I know. I ran a factory with over 200 Malaysian workers and there were "2" who learnt Arabic and knew what the Quran said. Others had no idea.
I haven't got the translated version with me so can not give exact quotes. I'll try to find. Then who's to say the translation is correct?

No, because I worked with Muslims most of my time I thought it a good idea to read a translated version supplied to me by a Muslim.
I think they are great people who are very kind and loving. I had no problems at all.

here's truism...did you know that the law, any law in religion, is not instituted to be followed? it's there to show our inability to have a law abing life get us to heaven.....i have more

islam is a religion of peace but very strict. submit to allah, fast on ramadan etc.. i am neither christian or muslim. i respect the words of both the bible and the koran, however i do not respect the radicals that spew hatred for everyone that does not share there beliefs. they (radical clerics) do more damage to there faith then they know. but i think the greatest threat comes from those that take the original words from the koran and twist them to serve there agenda. the ones that talk of anything other than peace.

in that christianity book they have, the law was only around for 2 of the 6 millenia...the first 2000 years they had no commandments. then, the last 2000 of the 6000 years they had no commandments. that guy that wrote most of what they call the new covenant, or new testament, said as much.quite plainly. i can post the verses, i can post volumes on this subject of we are not under the law...but, interestingly, that one saturday keeping deal will be followed when we get to heaven. yep, that one day a week will be for all eternity. odd, i know

Islam , just like any other religion, has been used to justify horrible things for horrible reasons. Religion can be like a knife. A very useful tool for dissecting and understanding the world, an instrument of creation; but when wielded by a morally corrupt individual it can be used to wreak havoc and to force otherwise decent people to commit horrible acts. The religion itself isn't bad per se. It's the people that use it.
