US 400m star LaShawn Merritt fails drug test

Olympic and world 400m champion LaShawn Merritt failed three drugs tests between October 2009 and January 2010.

His lawyer Howard Jacobs claimed in a statement that the positive tests were caused by Merritt's "use of an over-the-counter male enhancement product".

Jacobs said: "LaShawn Merritt has accepted a provisional suspension as a result of [the] positive drug tests."

The American, 23, faces a two-year ban and admitted he had made a "foolish, immature and egotistical mistake".

Merritt claimed he had not been aware that the product he used contained the banned steroid Deh

Here is another of americas superstar sportsmen testing positive for drugs.

Oh the irony of how americans tested maradona for drugs in usa world cup 1994, and the hypocrites in usa, and all there atheletes are also on drugs.

The cold war obviously had loads of this, but today with that gone, it must mostly be for money purposes.

I just posted this for the hypocrisy of americans and there obsession with cheating(jon stewert laughing about maradona taking drugs). Pure hypocrisy of americans to test maradona at that world cup, and ben johnson of cananda, and how convenient that they knew and tested these people.

I just wonder how many american so called stars are all hyped up on drugs.

Thoughts please for the hypocrisy on this subject, from regards to how americans are obsessed with cheating, but do not let others cheat like them.

When I was 23 it didn't take much to see my enhancements.

We are not talking about us, these people are conning people.

This is why i do not watch the olympics period anymore.

Can I make a suggestion? If you wish to be taken seriously you should not use sweeping statements like that. Unless of course, you can actually prove that ALL american T&F stars are on drugs, in which case, fair point, but can I see the evidence that backs up your claim? Ta in advance.
